I'm sure y'all have read this, but highly recommend this book.

Mostly about southeastern Kentucky, but everything applies to West Virginia.

Harry Caudill was an interesting man. I've read this and The Watches of the Night and The Jenny Wiley Saga. I enjoyed all three books.

Southwestern WV, Southeastern KY, and Western VA all kind of bleed together. The Appalachian foothills are more of a homogenous region than they are tied to any one state.
