So, supposedly UAB falls on their sword (kudos on their resurgence!) vs Ohio in Bahamas.....2 possibles 4 us include New Mexico bowl vs Colorado St & vs UH in one of the Texas bowls. NM would be a cool place to visit! Perhaps we could compete w/ the Rams, but Yuracheks’ Dad’s school will blow us up. Thoughts ladies?

You’re right, it’s confirmed - OU vs UAB in the Bahamas.

For the New Mexico Bowl, it appears that the only realistic Mountain West teams being projected to go there are San Diego State, Boise State, Fresno State and maybe Wyoming. The conference winner goes to the Vegas Bowl with teams finishing 2-4 going to NM, Idaho Bowl and the Arizona Bowl. Boise and Fresno are playing for the title and SDSU is the 3rd overall team.

I've seen a few projections putting Fresno in the Foster Farms Bowl (@ Levis Stadium) to face a Pac 12 school IF they lose to Boise.

Either Utah State or Colorado State will get sent to the Hawaii Bowl as they play in the opposite conference of Hawaii and haven't made the trip to the island this season.

I think NOLA would be a desirable location. The opponent may not be the best but a new place for fans to go for a game.

That said. I am all for playing the best opponent we can.

I do not see MU ever going to a western bowl. Bowls exist to make money and a western division team is always going to be a better choice.

Please, this is very laughable! We lost the last (4) football games out of (5). The fanbase is divided, our offense is not clicking, and we are probably going to have a new (OC). Take your December 16th bowl and play Appy State.

I saw on CBS sports app Marshall vs App in the Cure Bowl 12/16. We could do worse, & we have.........history w/ those Mountaineers!

That's the word on the streets of Charlotte.....Herd vs Appy State. It was also mentioned during the telecast of The Herd---So Miss game that a representative from Auto Zone Liberty Bowl (Memphis) was in Huntington....were they looking at Marshall or Southern Miss? It will shake out [in time]...and it's my guess...another Florida Bowl for Marshall to reward all the Florida players and their parents/family/friends and for recruiting efforts for Doc is a plus.

Speaking of recruiting
...I wish Doc would recruit more players from Ohio, Pa & Georgia...along with NC & S Carolina. We need some guys with some BEEF on their bodies.....

The number of meaningless bowls is already laughable BUT we Herd fans are happy that we get to play in one of them. All of you who are ecstatic about a possible bowl win need to remember this. A win for Marshall more than likely means that Hamrick will give yet another contract extension to Doc and that means Doc will retain his offensive genius Legg.
Remember this if we win the Tidy Bowl or whatever low level bowl we get. It means more of the same in 2018!

If you look at our current recruiting class and targets, we are doing just that this year. We may land 1-2 players from FL in the class and all of our current OL/DL commits are from KY or OH. We do recruit SC and NC, but GA, MS, and LA are where most of our top targets in the class are from this year.

the Cure Bowl

What? The Cure has a bowl?

I kinda want to see Marshall get shut out of the bowl games in Florida just because that's where Doc and Hamrick want to go. For the way the team and program has been handled lately it doesn't seem right that they get the game and location they want.

Not going my to happen

The projection is marshall vs kansas state or wvu vs utsa. Dallas would be a long way to go for a mu vs wvu game and i hope it doesnt happen but both names were mentioned for it.

Yall might get us WVU in the Heart of Dallas.

Dear God, that's just what we need. Doc couldn't manage to beat WVu when we had a QB who could play. If we have to play you guys in a bowl, we're screwed.

Why don't they just do a rematch of marshall vs utsa in the Dallas bowl? How exciting would that be?

They say Doc Holiday is/was an old Cowboy. Pack the Herd up and go west to play in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. Hell, might do us some good to go out there.

This morning in the Charleston Gazette, Doug Smock mentions in his article that it looks like CUSA has a secondary tie-in and will be in-line to fill an opening in the Independence Bowl. I believe that the ACC will be send a team to that bowl. Probably Boston College, Duke or Wake Forest.

Or an opening in the Cure Bowl (Orlando vs a SunBelt team like Appy St or Georgia St) could be an option.

Perhaps Marshall can lobby for one of those bowls once they're shut out of the bowl games in St.Pete and Boca.

Smock also mentions that FAU and Kiffin will most likely lobby for a FAU-USF matchup in St. Pete.

He also mentioned that it looks like Marshall will be around 6th in the pecking order of bowls.

Of these three bowl games, does it matter what day the game is on? The Cure Bowl is December 16th, Armed Forces on the 23rd, Independence on the 27th,

mubsblkg - Not really IMO. The 16th & 23rd fall on a Saturday, making it easier for travel for fans wanting to attend. The 27th is a Wednesday. Just cannot see someone above us in the pecking order not grabbing the Independence. We are not in a position to negotiate!

No, Hamrick will opt for whoever the most lame opponent is available to us. I predict he will turn down any interesting offers in lieu of a solid 3rd runner up East/West division MAC team.

I mean, that's how you get respect, right?

The question of the day?

How many BOWL TICKETS will Marshall sell from their allotted amount...if the allotted amount is ever made public?

I find it a little hard to believe we'd be sixth or seventh in pecking order; I didn't even think there was a pecking order. Seems I recall the conference allows some influence in the selection process for the conference title winner, then the rest of the bowls are "delved out" based on travel, convenience, ..... how much money the participants in total can bring into the conference. I would have to think Marshall would still be very high in the "bring in the money" for the conference. Just think about the national name recognition, MU versus NTSU in the Independence bowl. We may be down on the win/loss record right now but I guarantee you we have more national recognition than NTSU (at least still yet).

According to Doug Smock in his most recent article, he states that CUSA's pecking order is based on W-L record and how that establishes the overall finishing order.

It doesn't matter which bowl we go to. The only thing that matters to me is that Legg does not get on the plane. I will commit to 4 bowl tix if that happens.
