9 game conference schedule and elimination of 1AA games

It wont work the way you hope even if CUSA goes to 9 conference games... Which they wont.

Actually, its counter intuitive, if you take away a nonconference game the team we would leave off the schedule each year is the MAC team. A) We need a warmup game and 1-AA teams are willing to play in Huntington every year (MAC teams want home and home). B) Unlike Ohio, or in next years case Akron, there is next to no chance we could lose to a 1-AA team under our current team/coaches. C) Schedules are done 4-6 years in advance for FBS teams.

If we had a 9-game league slate that added UAB this year we would simply drop Akron and play 1-AA at home, Louisville, Pitt, League schedule.

The good news is, our future schedules are filling up nicely with FBS teams so hopefully after this year the only other year with a 1-AA team will be 2018. I'm assuming we can find a FBS partner to play on the road in 2019 and home in 2021.

Future non-league schedules ----

2017 --
Miami Ohio
@ Cincinnati
Kent State
@ NC State

2018 --
NC State
@ Miami Ohio
---Open Away (Or 1-AA at home)
---Open Home

2019 --
Ohio
@ Boise State
Cincinatti
---Open Away

2020 --
@ East Carolina
Pittsburgh
@ Ohio
Boise State

2021 --
@ Navy
East Carolina
@ App State
--- Open Home

If we banned 1AA games, we wouldnt drop a MAC school.

A G5 non-conference and 2 P5 schools(One home and One away) would be the ideal non-conference.

We already play similar 1AA schools in our conference schedule, playing 1 more hurts more than helps.

We would essestially play 2 P5 and 10 G5 with ODU and Charlotte being our weakest games

Okay, so we take jabs for playing in a weak conference, and your solution is to increase the number of times we play the teams within the conference? Makes sense.

The only way to increase SOS would be to reduce conference games to provide flexibility to schedule better teams, not that I would necessarily advocate that.

Oh yeah if that's the case we wouldn't be playing Morgan State. Better yet let's go indy.

Instead of paying some bum ass 1AA team might as well replace them with an automatic G5 game that matter towards a championship
