USA Today's 1-128 "re-rank" has us 98th. Remember that before anyone gets too excited about the next 3 weeks, as North Texas is 112th, FAU is 116th, and UNCC is 127th.

USM is 41st, ODU is 86th. Which will be reality therapy for some.

I am still reserving judgement for a little bit. We should beat and/or blow out next two opponents, if we don't, then it can be more telling, if we do than that next game will tell us more about our team, if they have grown, maturing, etc enough to play at their level of talent.

I would love to see a blowout Saturday in Denton but Middle Tennessee only beat them by 17 there last week. They threw 52 passes completing 33 for over 300 yards. I don't see a blowout but win certainly need a win. UNT, on the road, most likely will be the toughest of the next 3 opponents.

Looking at the numbers, that's not a great completion percentage. I am not sold on anyone in this conference to be honest. Middle is decent, but they have their issues like some of us do. USM is respectable, WKU is a 7 win team. The others, including NT, are terrible.

I know that I am going to get hammered for this.... Maybe we run the table this year because the whole conference is struggling. This helps us position our-self in case there is future realignment.Really it is all we can do. In the meantime i intend to enjoy watching the Herd!

I feel like this season will be experienced in three major plot-points:

1) Post non-conference schedule, where we look at losses to (okay) Akron, (but) Pitt and UofL and want to fire our coaching staff

2) The heart of the non-conference schedule, when we've pounded UNT, Charlotte and FIU and start talking about hosting the conference championship

3) The end of the season, where we prepare to sit at home for the holidays because we're 5-7, and people really start hammering the "FIRE HOLLIDAY" button.
