I read today where Honduras no longer recognizes Taiwan as a nation and says there is but one China. China is pumping aid into Honduras and Latin America. We used to be respected in Honduras, not to mention it is in our backdoor.

China is well on its way to being the big dog. This will happen within 10 years if not sooner. Maybe 5.
We may be at a war of their choosing before. Just look at the signs and there is lots of scuttle butt that we are headed the way. Like it is brewing. It will be whether we want it or not. I am also told and have reserched that we are in w world of hurt and we might not win this one and we would be a sumbissive state at that point.
I think the "china is a world economic power" is somewhat over stated. Regardless of what some may think, China still needs us economically. Their authoritarian nature makes them as susceptible to economic collapse as does their terrible demographic makeup.
Militarily is my main concern, and I agree with much of your point.
Their military is a big big concern. Plus, the allies they building makes it more of a concern

I know some folks that have worked as DI's and officers in charge of basic training companies. The stuff they tell me is incredible and sad.
A big thing now is mommy and daddy calling their senator or congressman because Joe is getting treated bad and such. The Army actually had to bring in officers(a LT) to be an officer in charge of platoons. They had not done this in decades. You had a CO who was not involved in day to day training, the NCO's(Drll Sgts) did that. They had to bring in more officers to be a buffer zone and handle the complaints and to take up for the NC0's. Sad. The officers are there to be a shield from Mommy and Daddy and Senator Idiot. The recruits have to learned to play the game.

You want to know why? Sometimes Joe is not around to do them because they are gone somewhere. Moonlights? Hell, they can go to HR Block and pay them. Or I can hit turbo tax and do it real quick. But, when they are gone doing something they are not around.
How the hell do you equate that with calling a Senator over getting yelled at in basic training? Or not getting enough sleep? Or not like your meal? Or my drill sgt is mean?

Sadly, there was some vile "gay bashing" in Huntington in the early 90s. No sense in beating the shit out of someone just because they are "different". I mean, I was still at a point I thought homosexuality was a sin, even though I had a couple of gay and lesbian friends, but Jesus no one deserved that.
