I'm kinda tired of the chest bumps, handshakes, ect. This happens more and more. It gets you a penantly. Be professional, run off and move on. Too much showboat. These players have did this most all thier lives. I love when we make good, great plays, we high five and stuff in the stands but they don't call a penalty on us. Have a persona have a class to it. Be classy. I'm an old timer from the sixtys. Maybe I'm too old for the younger Gen.

I don't see why it should even be a penalty, personally. Since it's a penalty, I'm of the opinion they should do whatever they want up to the point of a penalty. One thing I HAVE always found absurd is if a team is down, say 44-0, the losing team makes a big play, and one of their players does a ton of showboating. Dude, you're getting destroyed. Tone it down. You look like a fool.

I loathe the chest out, struting chicken crap our receivers do after making a big catch. You are SUPPOSED to catch the ball....

News flash to the "Sit down, I want to see the game" people...just go to the library and watch some freshman write a rough draft of an essay.

running off the field without enthusiasm, without "chest bump, handshakes, etc." shows ZERO passion for the moment! These guys practice all week for those 60 minutes on the field. To finally be able to take it to the field and showcase their hard work is an exciting time! When they do come out and do not do the "chestbumps, handshakes, etc." we have games like we did at Kent State. FLAT, DULL, NO ENERGY. The team lacks hype.... the way they play reflects that. Now with that being said, I do not believe in "over celebrating." To me, the only reason a celebration can be flagged is when it is considered "taunting." Then, yeah penalize them and it is then considered DUMB! But when our team gets a sack, tackle for loss, huge stand on a 3rd or 4th down, they should be pumped up and show some excitement! If they don't, then they do not want to be there bad enough! basically what im saying is GET HYPED but BE SMART. simple as that.

Yeah, sorry old dudes, it happens. Maybe it's happens more often than back in the day, but it gets players into the game and from a fan's perspective, it makes the game more entertaining. I promise you'd rather see the showboating than hear what the players are telling each other on the field.

HerdFan_33 nailed it. It is the age we are in, plain & simple. OP is obviously correct, back in the day IDR many showboating kind of gestures either. No doubt today's players are taking it to the next level. I would much rather have them celebrating a good play than not having anything to celebrate!

High five, chest bump, celebrate with your team......it's good for the game. But you look like a @#$% fool when you celebrate like you just won the Super Bowl after getting trucked on your arse by the other team's RB. Just sayin'.....

I bet this thread was created by a baseball fan.

The sport where you can't show emotion. The sport where you can't watch your home run leave the park or flip your bat out of excitement.

I've played sports and never celebrated too much, in my opinion I would say the most celebratory actions I need to see is about what Tim Duncan shows. He never really gets too excited until they win the NBA Finals. That's is when you celebrate, when the job I done. A catch or tackle, I kind of feel like saying "Good job, for doing your job."
