Rail safety...as in tell garbage trucks not to drive through a railroad crossing.
WSAZ is reporting the train hit a garbage truck and the driver of the truck is dead.

nah, reading a "conspiracy" thread on another board. some of the shit that people put out there is crazy, merely fun to read. take this one related to vegas, for example ( @Raoul Duke MU , you love a good conspiracy theory):
You know what is the craziest part of that? The idea a Saudi prince would "disguise" themselves to go enjoy a wild night in Vegas. Saudi princes not only do not care if everyone knows they are gambling, boozing, and chasing tail, they are usually very conspicuous in doing so. Dudes be driving neon Lambos and shit. I could buy the whole assassination part before I could buy the disguise thing lol.

When I was young I got to ride in the cab of a locomotive (thanks, Dad!) One thing you get to see from that view is people are stupid and try to beat the train all the time. This guy probably figured it was the usual slower freight train, and surprise it was Amtrak going fast as hell....whoops.

Hey trumptards (country and sisters). You guys still think we don’t have any problems with rail safety in our country. 4 fatal incidents in 2 months. Good stuff trumptards.
Greed can tell you how more people die from paper cuts and this isn't an issue. That's his response for anyone killed by illegals, so it must also fit in this case.

No, I actually do not see an issue with rail safety. I do see an issue with dumbasses. I would not hesitate to board an Amtrack today; drive, fly, or ride a train there are going to be some dumbasses involved, either your time is up or it isn't.
The system needs to be dumbass proofed. Any system that allows as much manual intervention is going to fail when at the hands dumbasses.
Nothing is dumbass proof. And let's say we install Positive Train Control on every passenger and freight line in the nation (even though that will do nothing to prevent the very vast majority of rail accidents, which are caused by non-railroad dumbasses, nor will it prevent accidents caused by damaged or defective rails)...you better have a manual over-ride for when the system itself goes dumbass. And I may be wrong, but I don't think PTC would have prevented the latest accident, speeds were fine and the line was marked open.
Now, if you want to discuss Amtrak not having to depend on freight lines that can then screw up, that's a different discussion. But let's be real: that's never going happen. For better or worse we long ago placed our bets on cars and planes.
And now the Acela Express has cars seperate while travelling 125 mph during its route DC to NYC.
