And this why West Virginia gets made fun of

they can do what I have to do in the liberal utopia that I live in. Would you like me to name all the conservative books I can't get locally in the Peoples Republic of Athens? They can buy it on Amazon. They can do an inter library loan, or maybe read it online through the statewide system. No sympathy here Marine

How is this a story? Some library in a small town in WV isn't carrying a copy of a political hit piece. Who cares? This isn't literature. She's not banning Charles fvcking Dickens. Marine, you're a 'tard.

Boys I'm thrilled with my books. I love big hard cover books like Inside the third Reich. I can get any book I want at our library. If they don't have it they can get it if its in a library in America.I dropped half of my channels and want us reading more instead of tv. My bill went from 230 to 120. I do hate not having the American hero channel. But a lot of these books are subjects that are on AHC..Got a book by G Gordon Kiddy, Sins of the father. Got the book I had checked out twice. They will still have a bunch of books on sale for 50cents a book. 20 bucks can get me 40 hard cover books.I have book fever. I love them.

I want that book hitler wrote.I got catcher in the rye, To kill a mocking bird,,,a book about the woman who wrote her first book,,,Gone with the wind. Ball Four,Jim Bouton,,,,The Diana Chronicles by Tina brown

Raoul how many of my books above do you like? I picked them all. Not like in the past when I took whole boxes without knowing what all was in them

Raoul which of my books do u like? Going to buy more today hopefully today for 50cents for a hard back. They had 6000 items. They only put out 4000. Should be 2000 somewhere else

This book is the all-time best seller in the first week for one of the big 5 publishers in the country, a publisher which has more than 277 NY Times best sellers. Yet a free copy is being denied by the library.

It is a story because it summarizes you deplorables perfectly. The fact that you don't get it is quite telling.

Tom Sawyer is a classic.

Tom Sawyer is a classic.

And I assure you that the library in question carries it. Tom Sawyer isn't carried in some school libraries because of racist slurs in it. The audience in those libraries is children. This library's audience for this book is adults. The book isn't carried in this library not due to any hate speech, but rather, because it paints a political figure, one who the librarian adores, in a bad light.

A few things...

*I’m reading Woodward’s Fear right now. I’m about 20% through the book. One of Woodward’s biggest criticisms is his writing style. His books aren’t told in narrative style and are kind of a hodgepodge of stories and information that can seem random at times. So far I agree with that assessment. But it’s hard to criticize that when all 18 of his books sold massive copies and 12 of them reached number one on the best seller list. Woodward isn’t writing fiction and should never be compared to the great fiction writers.

But what Woodward is is a journalist. And a very good one at that. He has won every major journalist award and his Watergate reporting and 9/11 reporting was directly responsible for bringing the WAPO two Pulitzers. If you believe that this is simply a political hit piece you’re denying this man’s history. History usually sorts out the truth in the end, and fifty years has elapsed since Watergate. This man is rich and famous and has no need to risk his reputation this late in life by publishing a factually inaccurate piece.

That being said, his book is only as strong as the information that his confidential informants give him and to a certain extent their interpretation of the events they relate. So when reading the book, I don’t think you should put entirely too much weight on single events and revelations. But when you piece all of it together you get a very good idea about what is going on in the run up to the election and in Trump’s Whitehouse. I know that Trump supporters don’t like reading anything that discredits or doesn’t fit their preconceived narratives. But you owe it to yourself to suffer the cognitive dissonance you’d go through and read the book.

That’s if you are interested in learning more about the person you support. But I have my doubts that anyone cares about finding the truth as much as they do finding approval for their already held positions.

*My 4th grade class reads an abridged version of Tom Sawyer. The stuff that’s criticized isn’t in the version we read obviously. But I do have an honest discussion with them about what is in the unabridged version. What I tell them is that the book is set and told in the decade prior to the civil war. Slavery was still a thing. The language Twain used was indicative of what was used then. It is a great way to get an understanding of what life was really like during that era. And Mark Twain was ahead of his time when it came to his views on slavery and race. Anyone who bans Tom Sawyer is ignorant.

*One of the greatest advantages of having moderator privileges is being able to read deleted posts. Sisters...I love ya.

Honestly why would I trust Woodward more than any other reporter? The stopped just reporting news and just being in the facts business a long time ago. They are in the entertainment business.
