The top 3 Democrats are the succession order for Governor in VA

Another top Virginia Democrat — Attorney General Mark Herring — admitted Wednesday to putting on blackface in the 1980s, when he was a college student.

Herring issued a statement saying he wore brown makeup and a wig in 1980 to look like a black rapper during a party as a 19-year-old undergraduate at the University of Virginia.

The revelation further roils the top levels of Virginia government. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax are already facing controversies, and Herring would be next in line to be governor after those two men.

Virginia Dems are having a bad week.

Fairfax was overheard saying "Fvck that bitch", referring to his accuser.

Honestly, I think is now safe to assume everyone in VA has done blackface.

We have a customer in Virginia that was wearing a confederate flag tie at work one day. Our rep asked him what the special occasion was.

His honest to God answer was, it was in celebration of the the first Yankee being shot in what is modern day West Virginia. He said the Yankee caught a pumpkin ball in the forehead and that is the special day.

when I lived in Charlotte in the 80's I had a guy say this. Did you know we had Yankee blood in our family? i said no. he said, yep we found my great grandads sword in the attic. It had yankee blood all over it. I kid you not. I had to remind him who won the war!

I find most people are over that now. The one thing that does get under the skin of the locals is when they here"back up North we did it this way or how much better it is up North"

If it was so much better up there why do they move to the South?

And the 4th person in line, after the 3 top dems is a....republican. No wonder those top 3 don't want to resign.

VA is a screwed up state. The beltway libs and Yankees and then you go down the road and it is old Virginia. The old Democrats are reaping what they sewed. They let the wacko libs and nutjobs take over their party.

The way this is playing out, it won't surprise me if we find out the democrat governor & democrat AG paid Fairfax to bang their wives while they watched.

I was correct....everyone is knee deep in blackface.

Thomas K. Norment Jr., the powerful Republican majority leader in the Virginia Senate, was a top editor of a 1968 college yearbook that included several photographs of students in blackface as well as racist slurs.

Mr. Norment, 72, a longtime fixture and political broker in the State Legislature, is the first Republican to be swept up in Virginia’s ongoing political crisis over racist behavior in the past. The Virginian-Pilot newspaper first reported on the photos and material on Thursday.

As a senior at Virginia Military Institute, then an all-male college that was sometimes called “the West Point of the South,’’ Mr. Norment was managing editor of the 1968 edition of the Bomb yearbook. That edition included students in blackface and slurs aimed at African-Americans, Asians and Jews, according to a copy viewed by The New York Times.

so this guy didn't even dress up himself? What the hell kind of people have time to dig this crap up on C list politicians?

I agree.

I only knocked the governor because he hemmed and hawed on it. Just man up and it will pass.

I know. How hard is it to stand up and issue a statement somewhere along the lines of "I was young and did some things that, while I was ignorant of it at the time, were racially insensitive. While I assure you my actions at this college party 35 years ago did not come from a place of hatred or bigotry, I came to learn later in life how painting ones face black was a tool of racists and bigots used to demean, insult, and humiliate people of color. And for that reason has no place in our society in any context. So I want to apologize to anyone who may have been offended by my poor judgement. Blah blah blah. Etc etc etc."

There. I did that in 5 minutes on the pot. I'm sure a crisis manager PR rep could spend a few hours dressing it up, but that would be the gist of what I'd say. Problem solved.
