Another Great Win For Basketball Tonight

Six wins in a row at the Cam. For you doubters that Dan's age should have been reason for AD Mike not hiring him....."What do you have to say now?"

"Way to coach Cuz"........See you in Charlotte next Saturday evening & then on to Birmingham for the C-USA Tournament.

Keeper - I'll play. Didn't listen to much, but sounds like they guys are gaining confidence. My Dad likes Edmonds, who lit it up last nite. I know FAU is not a very good team, but I like our momentum going into this last road trip before CUSA Tourney. Planning on driving down to watch the UNCC game nxt week. Can anyone offer an updated opinion about Nikolic? Also - Isn't Kambola's improvement pretty dramatic?

Go Herd!!! Beat ODU

It is clear the only reason we haven't won more this season is talent disparity. That's not a dig at the current roster, but it is what it is. Give coach about two years to recruit his system and I say we will be fielding teams that are competing for conference titles.

I said before the year it would be an excellent year if this team won 10 games... And I stand by that.

They have consistently improved over the course of the season and that is all we can ask as fans during a year where the program is in total rebuild mode. Hopefully a good recruiting season and another offseason of building around a young core will lead to being competitive in the league next year.

In my opinion, Aleksa has made great strides. He's still rough around the edges and got a little frustrated last night, as the little guard was dogging him hotly -- he showed some emotion, which I like. Danny said he could only do 10 push-ups when he arrived and now he's up to more than twenty. I think an off season in the weight room, some good nutrition, plus a little one-on-one coaching will do wonders for him. He reminds me of a young Mike D'Antoni, and I predict his best days are ahead of him. Remember, he's a true freshman who had to be thrown into the fray, and he's had only about six months to adjust to a different level of American college ball.

Milan is a more of a project, but don't sell him short before he's done, either. Both are great kids and it is obvious that they are well-liked by the team mates. That he can bring all these kids together is another Danny attribute.

If I were to grade this season, I'd give it a solid "B." Danny and his staff have instituted their system and stopped the dissention; that's all I expected them to do. The fact that they turned the long losing streak around and have beaten a couple of top teams in the conference has been a bonus.

Toward the second half of next season, I am hopeful that we'll be very good.

Being far away, I've only been able to see what I could get on TV. But this team has already exceeded my expectation of 10 wins and according to all accounts (especially TRS's whose two-cents I particularly trust) the team has hung together throughout all the losses while playing with a relatively inexperienced & under-talented roster. So, for this year, let's grade on a severe curve: A-.

I've been surprised at how much we've won, but you have to keep things in perspective: C-USA basketball is pretty bad. UTEP and WKU wins were impressive, but the two teams we beat this week were atrocious. I'm optimistic that Marshall basketball won't be an embarassment in the future, but I don't know that its time to start talking about tourney bids or anything like that.

Randon & Plains....I said MIKE, MIKE, MIKE, MIKE would NEVER be MARSHALL's COACH...Do you guys read on 3rd grade level?

Never a word about Dan...I was as surprised as anyone. But I WILL stand by my word...Marshall hired the CORRECT brother to "Bring on the HERD" to create better days in Herd Nation.

Look to find MIKE< MIKE< MIKE in the NBA next season! Dan will will be residing in his new home with his wife & daughter near Huntington.....COACHING Herd Hoops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

keeper I agree. Doc already has us there. DD will get us there soon.

I am most impressed with the team progress, something we have not see in a while at Marshall. Recruiting is still my main concern.1st and 2nd year recruiting make or break a basketball coach, given general timelines allowed by fans..

If 3 recruiting seasons are acknowledged, that means waiting 5 years for the 2 Serbs are the only seniors. This early and this coming fall recruits are pivotal to DD;s success.

I don't understand why you can't admit that you were wrong.

Instead, you have to lie about what you said.

Random, I think I need to agree with Gary on this one. From what I saw he insisted over and over that Mike would not be the Herd coach. I never saw Danny's name mentioned anywhere.

I recall that he said "never" in regards to Mike......However, I also recall that he said Dan was looking forward to retirement, playing golf, and spending time with his daughter. Late in the process he changed his tune.

He clearly didn't realize Dan's still burning passion for the game.

Doesn't really matter, I'm just glad Dan is here.......It's Weenie's posts that are a little bizarre. He writes like an crazy internet stalker.

Random is absolutely right! Gary said neither of his cuz in laws would be coaching the Herd. Plus in one of his posts he said he and cuz in law Dan had a good laugh over it.

Keeper is also right I think both of our revenue generating sports are in great hands!

If that is the case, then I stand corrected. I obviously don't read every post on here...
