Tell a lie long enough and you start to believe it. Reminds me of the scene in a Monty Python movie where a fellow is walking a cart through a Middle Age village collecting those who have died from the plague. He picks up one body, but the fellow he picks up tells him he is still alive.
“No, you’re not.” the collector replies.
When the fellow argues that he is indeed alive, the collector hits him in the head with a mallet and throws his dead body in the cart.
