was just wondering if anyone had any predictions on the Herd landing anyone else thats huge for this upcoming football season. Its been kind of quite for weeks now does anyone have any info on a possible huge land.

I wouldn't mind grabbing a 4 star (I'm sure that goes without saying.) just glad our recruiting is finally to the point where I can be a little disappointed I don't see 1 or 2 four stars on the board.

Most if not all 4-star recruits will be secured well after the signing period when players fail to make test scores and are left to go to prep schools, Juco or enroll at a school that can take props.

I predict there will be at least one post claiming so-and-so is a HUGE get because he is a BEAST. ;)

i know - i remember years back when landon was all excited because we had
two star quarterback coming in. turns out the kid threw side armed and didn't
last a year - ended up transferring to tennessee state or somewhere like that.

I can't ever recall Landon being excited about football. I think Doc has proven there is plenty to get excited about when signing day arrives with him in charge.

The most interesting thing about Holliday is his innate ability to find the players that are not always seen as top picks. He is an artist when it comes to recruiting. When Urban Myer says he may be the best recruiter ever...that's saying something.

Its nice to hear the word RELOAD from you head coach.

Remember when Snide was in his 4th year and still playing the were young and rebuilding card?

My how the times have changed.

We have 4 QBs in camp, count that 4. When Doc arrived we had a kid with pure heart as QB but little talent as he hadn't been developed.

It's interesting to me to see the genius in raider gear on the WVU sideline without a true starting QB for next year.

Compare and contrast the paths of the two programs in the state of WV since Ollie and Hamrick arrived.

Just saw where former 4 star UCLA commit TJ Simmons has Temple, Marshall and "That Other team" on his short list.
I also saw where we have another WR from Alabama, Kievonte Gallman, www.bigbendfootball.com/2015/01/12/wr-kievonte-gallman-finally-getting-the-respect-d1-offers-hes-due-after-transfer-from-godby-to-chickasaw-al/

How is WVU's QB situation so different from Marshall's? WVU has four QBs on scholarship next year (five if Paul Millard decides to return and use his 4th year of eligibility). Two of those QBs were 4-star recruits. The other three were 3-star recruits. Crest, Millard, and Howard all have game experience. Millard and Howard have each started games for WVU. On paper, WVU has the stronger and more experienced stable of QBs. Time will tell how that plays out on the field in 2015 and beyond.

Your QB situation has bren anything but solid since Geno left. This is what his 4th year and he is yet to recruit and groom a freshman. That is pathetic.

Crest redshirted this year

And Millard and Howard are trash. If Crest doesn't win the job, it's going to be a long season for WVU

OK. You may be right. We'll see.

i know one thing i like the recruits so far but id breathe a little easier if i saw a 6'4 305 dl and another 6'2 230 lb on the front page lol

There is a 4 star recruit with Marshall in his top three along with Temple and that other school. His name is TJ Simmons. The other is a WR from Alabama. Kievonte Gallmon. Try bigbendfootball.com.

Well we have Kent Turene finally healthy and Shawn Petty will be eligible after transferring from Maryland both of them are 6'2 230+

Gallmon's tape is very impressive to me....kind of shocked Rivals doesn't even have a profile. Give him a scholly

I think he is pretty solid to us and I am sure he is visiting next week for our Big Bang recruiting weekend

There is a 4 Star back out of Florida who has recently decommitted from UCLA. He announced last week that he has narrowed his choice down to 3 of which Marshall is one of the 3...

T.J. Simmons

The difference between Marshall's situation and wvu's situation is that Marshall has been able to utilize the strength of that player based upon the system that we run and it's all because of Doc.

I mean, look at what he did when he was at wvu. He was able to take pat white who wasn't exactly the greatest quarterback or the highest rated, and recruit him to wvu because he knew he fit Rich Rod's system perfectly. He is doing the same thing at Marshall. He's more concerned about how players are going to fit into the system that he's running and so far looks like he has the players needed in order for us to be successful.

wvu should try this, however, they think they're going to be able out recruit texas and oklahoma because they believe name brand alone will work. It wont. When your team gets beat up by kansas and Iowa state and you struggle to make it to .500 every season you're not going to be able to recruit against established programs.

You need to get smart with the recruiting. However, seems holgorsen isn't smart with anything at all, ever.

Doc was not on Rodriguez's staff when they recruited Pat White. He was on the staff for Pat's senior year I think after Stewart took over.

Any Holgerson staff is very typical of many young staffs around the nation. Using recruiting sites to find players instead of going out hitting the roads and beating the bushes and under rocks to find elite talent. Not all top talent goes to camps to be on the recruiting sites radar.

There is a reason our 2 and 3 star talent have been really impressive since Doc been the coach. You sprinkle that we some upper 3 stars and 4 stars and Doc is building a monster

I also predict grainy game footage that shows a player running fast around a team that we know nothing about that is slow and out of position.

Fevers right, Doc brought in Geno, Bailey, Austin and the other receiver McKelvey (I think that was his name). He brought in probably the best talent that UWV has ever had and Holgs couldn't do diddly squat with that talent.

My prediction is there will be 20 or so new members of the Herd football family. Some will provide much to the advancement of the team, some will be decent to good back ups, some will provide very little to the gameday experience.

All will be welcome sons of marshall, and hopefully all will finish with a degree.

WVU has recruited pretty well. The jump they made to the Big12 was a huge jump and it's going to take a few years to get recruiting to the same level....especially along LOS. Crest is a top 25 national QB and they already have another QB in top echelon in for spring. They also have had many top guys leave which may be due to not being good fits for system etc.

Ultimately, though I agree with those who say they will struggle to compete with Oklahoma, Texas etc. I had their 2014 class 6th in B12 and way behind Ok and Texas based on a simple numbering system. The difference is a down day in the B12 means a loss or a close win vs in BE the lasy few years they had more talent than anyone and would still win games in which they played poorly.... Having Sieder has helped them immensely....although I still think they focus on certain HS's too much. I know Miramar has been a great pipeline for them, but I think they have 4 guys from there this year. The B12 also has great coaching for most part. Patterson, Strong, Snyder, Briles are among best and Stoops and Gundy are really good too. Also playing that offensive system in north can be more of a challenge than it is in south.

WVU will get 4 stsrs and maybe eventually a few 5 stars Along their front line players. The rub is their 2s and 3s. That is what is always going to separate them from the top of the Big XII.

Anyone who watched their game against Texas saw the graphic that showed the amount of 5 stars, 4 stars, and 3 stars each team had. It was a pretty substantial desparity.

Going back to the 2012 class up to the 2014 class here is how WVU compares to Texas and Oklahoma.

Texas: 5star (2), 4star (30), 3star (30), Total pts- 6,149

Oklahoma: 5star (2), 4star (26), 3star (41), Total pts 6,115

WVU: 5star (0), 4star (6), 3star (60), Total pts 3,929.

WVU will most likely never amass the quality of depth Oklahoma and Texas will. Especially in the trenches.

And before you say look at TCU and Baylor, look at where they are located. WVU has to travel the country to get recruits and convince them to leave their home states and the teams they free up wanting to play for. Most Big XII schools don't have that problem.

WVU prettt much ruked the roost in the Big East once Miami and VT left. They were the team the rest of the conference circled as their big game. That is no longer the case.

Oliver Luck should have begged and begged to get in the ACC.

Yeah, Chriss88, why post about 'eer recruiting? Why bring it up? We don't want to read their crap.

I dont mind the WVU information if it was maybe in a separate thread so I could skip it if I wanted. This is the only thread we really have going right now on recruiting, and half of it is about WVU.
