April 2018 best month in histroy for US budget.

The point of the article is that the economy is expanding and creating a wider tax base, and that could very well be attributed to the tax cuts that were passed. Part of the entire logic for lowering taxes, besides allowing people to keep more of their own money, is that it spurs economic growth, causing incoming tax receipts to actually rise overall. This article mentions only one month, but is a very positive sign. I don’t think anybody on this board was arguing that we would see a budget surplus last month.

The economy has been expanding since June of 2009. So unless cheetos's tax cut is retroactive to then, no, it can't be attributed to the tax cuts.

Part of the entire logic for lowering taxes..... is that it spurs economic growth, causing incoming tax receipts to actually rise overall.

Except that "logic" doesn't work very well, if at all. I suspect April is an outlier due to taxes on repatriated money.

This article mentions only one month, but is a very positive sign.

We'll see.

1. It's probably not the best month in history if adjusted for inflation. As a researcher, that shit is a pet peeve.

2. Was there something in April that caused a bunch of extra revenue coming in?

I think you just took care of debunking this one. Bahahaha

Only when it fits their narrative. But, of course, when the self-described smartest guy on herd nation says he knows more than the CBO, none of that matters.

According to puffs like you, the economy sucked the entire Obama administration, but as soon as Cheetos took over that same economy is now remarkable, regardless of the fact that the trends continued relatively the same.

according to your logic, if the economy started expanding in June 2009, wouldn't that be due to Bush's leadership rather than anything obama could take credit for?

But, of course, when the self-described smartest guy on herd nation.

You are the only one that says that. Why? Because that's a common defensive behavior when someone is presented with how full of shit they are.

Full of shit: "Trump's awesome, biggest budget surplus evah!" Truth: it's one good month, the rest of the year sucks dick. Source: the first paragraph OF THE SAME FVCKING CBO REPORT your teabagger rag cites. Here:

"The federal budget deficit was $382 billion for the first seven months of fiscal year 2018, CBO estimates, $37 billion more than the shortfall recorded during the same period last year."

BTW, I ran the inflation numbers....$190 billion in 2001 is...get this....$270 billion today. Now, I'm pretty sure the Washington Times writer knows this. I've said they are biased, not stupid. Which one are you?

Take it up with the CBO. They are the usual "go to" by libs when touting all things budget and/or costs.

I won't have to, because unless I am missing something (it's possible, I'm on my phone and my eyes aren't what they used to be) the actual CBO report never used that headline or makes that claim.

Now, I'm willing to agree the Washington Post is right. I'm sure someone there checked the dollar amount, not adjusted for inflation, for every year in American history just to be sure they got it right. Even though they are disingenuous in acting like the CBO report touted such a thing. And I think it's great revenues are up 4% so far verses last fiscal year. You would think that would make a good headline...I guess it's not exciting enough for Simpletons. But the defecit is still higher than the last fiscal year. Are you happy about that? Are defecits now fine with your party in charge? Seems to be fine with BC, but he's professionally used to bailouts. I don't see us in a great war, national emergency, or funding massive infrastructure projects, so I'm not too happy about it, same as I was when Obama was in the White House. If you really want to have fun, read the report for why spending is up so sharply.

getting off message here bc - we are AGAINST the cbo, the numbers are obviously bogus

The Trump administration is not fond of the Congressional Budget Office.

The independent, highly respected agency that analyzes the impact of legislative proposals has said the numbers in President Trump’s budget don’t add up and that Republican health care proposals would cause huge insurance coverage losses. And it will hold immense sway over the fate of Republicans’ next legislative priority: tax reform.

The White House has embarked on a rhetorical war against the agency without precedent. The White House's official Twitter account sent out a "fact-check" video trying to debunk the CBO's findings that Republican health bills would reduce health coverage by more than 20 million people. (At one point, the video misspells the word "inaccurate.")

In an interview in May, White House budget director Mick Mulvaney attacked the group, saying, “At some point, you've got to ask yourself, has the day of the CBO come and gone?”

Ok Raoul.

I’m pretty sure I said in my first response to you that the article only mentions one month, but that it’s a positive sign. I never implied that the nation’s financial woes are solved.

I'd agree that receipts up 4% for the fiscal year is good news. I'd argue outlays up 5% is not good news. Like The Boss sang, one step up and two steps back

And my point with you is you posted crappy propaganda, because you are on Trump's nuts. YOU know one month doesn't mean shit (especially an April), the Washington Times knows it, but fvck it, let's fellate Trump in print and digital format.

Yeah, we should probably stick to the Atlanta Fed Tracker. Want to walk down memory lane to see how that one worked out for you? Hell, I even mocked you BEFORE it all came true.

Appears my premise of that thread was right on point: (mocking libs who would be pissed if the economy hit +4% growth)

“Uhhhhhhh ohhhhhhh! This wouldn’t be good news!”

You’re happy as hell the economy didn’t hit the numbers it was predicting.

Good for you. Take your victory lap.(I guess????)

By the way. What does Fed Tracker have to do with CBO reporting surpluses in this thread? You’re trying to hard here. Just stay on topic.

You're not trying hard enough. Perhaps, if you ask your ITT daughter, she can explain "to" vs. "too." for you.

losers are reaching Raleigh

"Raleigh, Raleigh, look at me! I bring absolutely nothing to threads, and I get mocked for only 'liking' a bunch of posts before hiding after those posts are shown to be false. As a result, instead of just liking posts, I run around being the board cheerleader with my comments."

weird how all that needs to happen for a thread to be thrown completely off kilter is for raleigh to post. instantly goes from topic to his family. weird, indeed.

This is the exact same thing conservatives did during the Obama administration.

That's what happens when people throw tantrums about something on here. If they show that it really gets under their skin, that same bait will continuously be used on them.

Raleigh has a pretty solid history of saying some really, really dumb shit. It goes all of the way back to his comparison of the DC beltway and the highway around the research triangle. It continued in many other threads including the Atlanta Fed Tracker, the follow-up thread to that, and then the one where he listed three elite schools alongside Virginia Tech. The only thing that makes it better is when he claims to be an expert on every topic ever mentioned on this board because he frequently has lunch with industry leaders on every topic ever mentioned on here (on a sidenote, who the fvck actually talks about their work during business lunches? He needs a sales guy).

So when a guy with that type of track record throws a tantrum - like the one he did when Buckeye started his ITT comments - it's understandable and entertaining to see it rehashed weekly.

ahhh, yes. entertainment. i like it.

carry on.

btw, @Y.A.G Si Ye Nots , not to farther derail this thread, but to further derail this thread, my kid got to play on PNC field the other weekend. how cool is that! unless he gets monumentally better over the next couple years (he's not bad now), probably a once in a life time experience for him . . . maybe twice or thrice, dependent on whether the team does the same program his jr and sr seasons.

the 2A (will be 1A next year when WVSSAC realigns teams) PHS Vikings lost to 6A Seneca Valley, PA. SV threw a different pitcher every inning, different kids at damn near each position just about every inning. PHS was up 4-0 in the bottom of the 4th when one of their batters smacked one to right field where Q was. he ran back about 20 yards and said he lost it in the lights and it fell about 3 feet from him. the bleeding didn't stop and we ended up losing 6-5.

He is really trying hard to buddy-up to somebody so that somebody will actually have his back in anything he says. Nobody ever has, so he just ends up looking like the seventh grade girl following around the popular girls all day saying "your hair is so pretty."

that's funny. you are probably right, it's either that or I tend to agree with his political views or get a kick out of how he generally kicks libiots around on here. it's funny that you mention 7th grade girls, I actually thought about how similar you seem to middle school girls watching internet "likes". it is good to see you girls rallying to defend one another on here.

I thought there was love in the air between you and Raleigh. Adorable.
