ASN

I'm not holding my breath that WATL will add them as their 3rd OTA channel.

Their website said more channels added soon, so I'm hopeful. Going down the stretch with the team now beginning to click it would be great to be able to watch them.

Marshall - Rice live tonight at 8.

Full time ASN stations:

Baltimore: WUTB-3
  • Charleston-Huntington, W.Va.: WVAH-2
  • Cincinnati: WKRC-3
  • Columbus: WTTE-3
  • Greensboro-High Point-Winston, N.C.: WXLV-2
  • Myrtle Beach-Florence, S.C.: WWMB-3
  • Nashville: WNAB-2

  • Raleigh-Durham, N.C.: WLFL-2

yes,

But don't have that list in front of me............also may add NYC soon.

Thanks for the response. I was curious if the affiliate in Lexington would do it. They pick up ASN games all the time. I can't get it on satellite but rabbit ears work fine for picking up the channel in great HD reception.

Local Charleston, Huntington over the air channel has become ASN. Channel 11-02

Seems strange to me that Suddenlink's channel offerings in Southern WV, Beckley, Princeton, etc., are NOT the same as their offerings in the Charleston-Huntington market. Even though they carry WCHS and the Putnam WVAH channels in southern WV, they do not carry the digital 11-1, 8-2, etc., channels. Therefore if Herd is not on the regular channels, 8 or 11, their games are not available in the above in state area. Definitely not the way to increase exposure of teams and potentially build additional fan support. Maybe Suddenlink in Beckley-Princeton and other southern areas of state will revise their channel offerings.

Call your local cable system about adding the WCHS/ASN affiliate.

Can they?

I really don't know.

Inside the Huntington-Charleston DMA, a cable company can carry any station from within the DMA. But outside of it, it can only carry stations that had a "significantly viewed" status from back when cable was something rural people used to get acceptable TV reception. Beckley-Bluefield is a separate market. There is a list of such stations for each county, which list stations depending on where you are from Roanoke, H-C, and/or the Tennessee Tri-Cities, but digital subchannels are not mentioned, since they did not exist back then.

Also, would it not be in Sinclair's interest to try to get one of the stations in that market to get the network?

Yeah, SamC, it would be nice know just what the rules, if any, are as to what stations can be carried in certain areas. Down in Southern WV, the Huntington stations, WSAZ and WHTN, now WOWK (the channel 13) were on cable systems from day 1. Grew up in McDowell County watching Bos Johnson, Bouncing Bob Bowen (and his Might Minford Falcons), DJ and weather, Budd Dailey, etc. Now, apparently the NBC affiliate in Bluefield, WVVA, has requested that WSAZ no longer be on the cable systems in their, VVA's, "area". Result, no Huntington stations on in Beckley, Bluefield and surrounding counties for several years now, even thought these were the "traditional" stations viewed by most in these rural counties.

On the other hand, Suddenlink does carry Roanoke, Virginia NBC and CBS affiliates, channels 7 and 10, who do duplicate the network shows found on the Bluefield, WVVA, channel and the CBS affiliate in Beckley (same owners as WOWK in HTGN). No real rhyme or reason, it seems, as to what stations are carried, or not carried, by cable systems such as Suddenlink.

For those who live in the tri-state and have Armstrong cable you can catch asn games on ch 94. Found out by accident Saturday nite looking for a good bb game. Found it MU-Rice!
