Attendance Prediction for next week

I hope not, but the game today will certainly have a negative impact on next week's attendance.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see that many UL fans traveling here to see an ass whipping. We had a chance to break the attendance record next week and we $hit the bed.

Prediction...UL scores on 1st play from scrimmage.

with the way UofL is playing and Lamar Jackson solidly in front for the Heisman we may still have a huge crowd. how many chances in a lifetime do you get to see a top 5 team and a likely Heisman Trophy winner?

The fact that you all are crying that Marshall lost doesn't mean this won't be a huge game.

Get over it.

The game will still be a sell out just so the casual fans can see a team like Louisville. We had over 32K seats sold last week for the game. Our fans need to take another day to sulk in the loss and then start looking forward to the game. Yes it stinks and I am still mad but I will be there cheering just as hard.

I am hoping we can repeat 2003. We lost to Toledo and then beat Kansas State with a backup QB so who knows what can happen. The bad thing is we then lost to Troy.

15K is a ridiculous prediction. If we had preformed as we should have in what should have been a tune up game, then it would be a huge sell out. We did not. Still, this is the best team to have come into this town EVER. This is what you wanted. It will be very close to if not a sell out.

The issue is that, two weeks from today, it will have involved HUGE upsets for us not to be 1-3, 0-3 versus legitimate competition. Selling seats for some of the dog awful teams at CUSA's bottom will be a challenge.

Louisville fans are coming in droves to support their team. I have five of them (two couples and a guy) staying at my Trainmasters House Bed & Breakfast in Kenova. Everyone of them told me they couldn't find a room anywhere else.

Unfortunately, yesterday's performance will cost us about 10,000 fair-weather Herd fans. You never know -- we may give Louisville their best game yet this year...

Could still be a sellout as I would expect Louisville to bring a very significant number of folks with them. Would not be surprised to actually see more Red than Green in the stadium.

Anyone who seriously enjoys college football should just go if for no other reason than to just be able to see the # 4 ranked team in the nation.

It's sad to think that people will be going to see UL next week and not Marshall. That is a sad state of affairs for our program when we are the home team and most are coming to see the visiting team.

I think the game would have broken the attendance record at the Joan had we not lost the Akron game the way we did. Not many Herd fans that hadn't bought their tickets yet will be buying tickets so it might result in UL fans soaking up the rest but who knows. I think they will bring 6-7000.

I'm not sure I remember a time when I was so disappointed after a loss this early because of how we lost. It showed how poorly coached we really are and how ill prepared we are.

Maybe Marshall can send out some tweets and emails. That will get the average college fan in the stands.

Why is everyone already throwing in the towel on the season and acting like Louisville is going to have 30k fans there?

Marshall fans will rally, just because you're butthurt and thinking about not going doesn't mean there won't be 35k Marshall fans there striping the stadium ready to cheer on The Herd

Well stated, especially last sentence. A loss to a capable, if unheralded, Akron team would have been hard to take under normal circumstances, but being outclassed and embarrassed while looking totally inept in so many aspects is TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE!!! Don't doubt this team and staff prepared and coached for this game, but it is clear that neither team nor staff can react to adverse events, plays, turnovers, etc. and make needed adjustments in a timely fashion. Sticking to original game plan without deviation and adjustments while team is sinking faster than the Titanic doesn't cut it.

Will be there to see how we our "planning and preparation" work out against Saturday night's opponent!!

Hey, a lot of us remember that "small pond" too. Remember U Guys played and traveled well.

I went to the Detroit Bowl and saw Chad beat us. I also saw Byron leaning on that human crutch and beating us on one wheel at Mobile. The same game when it broke that our coach was leaving for Mich. St. and we got the coach from Hell for three seasons. Oh yeah, we have had some bad times.

Well, sorry to say for your sake that this is not one of those seasons. But, we owe you at least one.

I hope The Herd goes undefeated after the Cards.

Dont forget us beating you guys there when you had Bridgewater his 1st year I believe.

As someone stated above, we had 32,000 tickets sold by midweek last week. Remember, Marshall announces tickets SOLD, not butts in the seats. I would say a minimum of 36,000 tickets will be sold.

Mike H must crap at how Doc, seems to always drop a game big before a big home game the next week. the money we miss because of this must drive Mike mad.

I think we definitely get a big crowd regardless of how we suck. People who already paid will want to see a potential Heisman winner and possibly national champion. I have heard a lot of people say they are going just for that. That's a sad fact though.

And yes that loss cost Hamrick BIG money. Not just for UL but for the rest of our games if we don't turn it around

Speaking for myself as a Cards fan, I am taking Marshall seriously. You guys beat us the last time we played. I am looking forward to a competitive game. Even good teams have bad games every now and then.

technically we beat you the last 4 times we played.... but who's counting...... ;)

There's 11 other teams who have to play UofL, and three have gotten blown out, including Florida State. I don't know that there is a result of a game against Lamar Jackson that gets you "laughed at." Kudos to UofL for being so good.

Saturday night, go watch a football game and try to have a good time. Marshall could win 55-0 it wouldn't change your life one bit, so don't sweat what effect the opposite score might have.

CARDS fan here. I truly hope you are wrong and your fans come out in droves. U of L has sold all of their allotment and has requested more. You won't see their best game probably after the FSU game and Clemson game, but we respect you guys. I have officiated many a game in John Edwards Stadium. Now retired after 37 years. Now I just enjoy being a fan. Any input on places to eat or drink four hours before the game would be greatly appreciated.

Hall of Fame Café downtown. Max and Erma's and Roosters across the street in Pullman Square

Do not go go roosters... While roosters has several tvs, the place is nasty from food to service... Check out the hall of fame cafe, mancinis, the peddler, backyard, fat pattys, or even the Union pub and bar!

That's exactly what me and my father said as we watched MU continue its self destruction during the game on tv. we travel 4 hours to watch MU, which costs us a bit to do in hard financial times. Being honest here guys, and you can call me a piss poor fan, but when I spend hard earned money for tickets and then oodles in gas, parking, concessions I expect to not see a team quit like they did Saturday, and it only took one turnover to make them quit. anyways, back on topic, had I not already purchased the tickets, I probably wouldn't go to the game, as I go to watch Marshall play, not the opponent, and that level of play last Saturday was sickening. I would have been pissed to spend over 300$ to go to that game. This is me being honest, and no I am not a fair weather fan, I will support MU the same regardless and if I lived closer to money wasn't such a factor, I would go to as many home games as I could (wouldn't cost nearly as much to go).

I went through 20 straight losing seasons but one big difference,,,,,those teams had a lack of talent but they played hard every play. Doc did a piss poor job saturday coaching up the herd.

Being a Kentuckian myself, I have a great admiration for what Louisville has done in the last 15 years. Being a MU alum and die-hard fan, I have great admiration for what we've accomplished since 1970. This should have been a good game, and for some reason I still believe it will be a good game; not so much in the score but int he environment and spirit of competition.

Concerning last Saturday, let's face it, no one expected UofL to beat FSU like a drum, and no one expected Akron to beat us like a drum. Something happened to both FSU and MU that was off-schedule for their talent level. I suspect both teams had players ill-suited for their match-ups, and players who played well below their potential. It happens.

MU fans WILL show up because they love the Herd and they've waited a long time to see UofL come here. Its a love for MU and a respect for UofL not canceling the game like so many others have.

Step up fans, from both schools. We could have a great OOC rivalry from respect and competitiveness. Both schools have risen far beyond expectations 20 years ago. Who would have believed UofL would be the best athletic school in KY back then, or that we'd be considered a perenial top-tier football program, among the top 60 or so in the country.

I'm done, Enjoy Saturday, it should be great.

Thanks much guys. We are beer drinkers. So we will for sure try these places. What time typical do they close on Saturday night. Beer drinking crowd is what I am trying to say.

I think most of the restaraunts close at 11-12 but there are several bars open until 3 on fourth avenue, St marks, The Union, . And also give Davis place a try they, are open until 3 as well but they are on 8th st and 8th Ave...st marks is tiny but a great local bar, while the union is a great size bar and grill with tons of Marshall memerbila (also more of a college bar). Davis place keeps expanding and is a good size bar and has all different kinds of age groups there!

Not sure why you guys always recommend these awful chain restaurants to visitors. You don't think they can get a terrible meal at Max and Erma's or Roosters in Louisville?

L'ville fans: Try 21 at the Frederick for the best steak in town. Bistro is a good French/Contemporary American restaurant. Backyard Pizza has the best pizza in town. The Peddler next door has great burgers and a fun atmosphere. Black Sheep Burritos is a good option. La Famiglia and Rocco's are the best Italian restaurants. Prime on 4th is a good option as well.

The ticket office tweeted last night (Monday) that 34,000 tickets have been sold so far.

Pretty sad really, to not be sold out. Coaching staff and players lost quite a few fair weather fans last week.
