Has anyone heard anything on where the bidding stands? If it has even started

Has all the prelim site preparation work been done? Testing for hazardous materials present; removal of, or replacement of, utility lines, water and sewer, etc., etc. Supposedly the City had received funds, or using funds from the "Best Cities" contest it won, for such site work. Once that was to be completed, MU was to proceed with actual stadium construction, dependent, of course, on the availability of funds!!

I've heard it is on hold and could be years to be done now with the lack of funds available and lack of fund raising going on

I live basically right next to it, and drive by the lot multiple times a day. Haven't seen one person even glance at it, let alone actually be present there since they tore down the building. Despite the fact that city council approved the shut down of 24th st.

Anyone else think that we need to finally just drop Baseball and move on? While I like the game, I don't think it is a good sport for Marshall, where there are truly no funds and very little interest.

IMHO, MU has three options. Remember that minor league baseball is leaving (no matter what the pols say) Charleston, and that town is not going to expend money to upkeep it middle of the hood ballpark just for MU and some random HS games.

- Build not this pipedream palace, but simply a proper field with the seating for the 500 or so people that would turn out. (Before anyone says "CUSA standards", nope, these are a myth for the most part, just requiring a proper locker room, separate restrooms for players, a proper basic field, and a scoreboard. Nothing in there about seating, capacity, anything.)

- Hit up some big donor for this deal. Nobody really comes to mind. JJ isn't going to do it.

- Drop the sport and pick up something else which can use the existing facilities and some kind of local following. Wrestling maybe? Lacrosse?
