The Awful Announcing website and Media Life Magazine is reporting that the new CUSA TV deal is with ESPN, CBS Sports Network, Sinclair's American Sports Network... and beIN Sports.
Who? BeIN Sports. Formerly known as Al Jazeera Sports. Belongs to the Qatar royal family. It now carries stuff like Euro and Arabian soccer, rugby, European sports car racing, team handball (WTF is team handball), tennis and Arabian horse racing. This is its first venture into mainstream US based sports.
The channel is only AVAILABLE on 20% of cable systems, and it is almost always in the pay extra sports tier or the "foreign" tier which only about 20% of customers usually buy. I do not see it listed on either Charleston Suddenstink or Huntington Comcast. It is on DirecTV and DISH, but only if you get the very highest packages.
Nielsen estimates it gets 15000 viewers on an average day.
Wow.
