Just thought I would start a fun thread. I personally like 80's music but if I am being honest I think the 70's get the nod. The 80's start strong but fizzle around 87 IMO.The 70's start and end strong. I would place the 60's in third place. Sorry to all of you younger cats, I just think most of the music of the past 25 years or so is a joke.

70's had great music across the spectrum. Classic rock, great country, and some kick ass funk. Lots of good songs still popular today. 80's was too much hair band for me, 90's being too much boy band, and 00's just totally went to shit. I would rank the 60's #2.

I agree 70s had some great music. I like the rock of the 90s rap of the late 90's early 2000s. Please put how old you are too it will be interesting to see if its a generational thing. Ill start Im 33 so I grew up listening to music of the late 80s and 90s

Age 50 here. If I had to pick one decade and stick with it, I'd go with the 70's. You get a little fringe on each end with a little 60's carry-over and the early stages of 80's metal.

Well if you can start your decade in 1824 you can include Beethoven's 9th symphony, Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, Schubert's 9th symphony and Mendelssohn's 3rd and 4th.
JMO.

Probably the 50's and the 60's. You can't deny the likes of Elvis, the Beatles, the emergence of groups like the Rolling Stones. Events such as Wood Stock and how that music in both decades changed generations. The country influence of big names like Cash, Nelson, Hank Williams, and the list goes.

If you take the time to look, theres still a lot of really good music being made today. I grew up in the 60's and 70's and like music from classical thats 200+ years old, to stuff that was put out within the past couple of weeks. I just love music!!

Music lover but the 70's was the best. Alot of pioneers in the 70's. From Bluegrass like Boone Creek to Rush to Skaggs and Rice and back to Lynard Skynard. The heavy stuff like Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy to Nazareth and Montrose and Black Sabbath. Aerosmith, Reo Speedwagon to The New Grass Revival and Whitley and Skaggs. The wonderful Isaacs too. Gotta add Kiss before they took the makeup off for the first time. My first date with my wife was Kiss. Foreigner and Boston to Bob Segar and Fleetwood Mac.The great Tom Petty. Molly Hatchet a band some in here never heard of. Doobie Brothers and The Scorpions and UFO. Deep Purple and Ted Nugent and Leter Frampton and the super bands Led Zepplein and Zz too. Had the allman brothers to elvin bishop to Dr Hook. Devo made a splash as did the ramones. James Taylor to The Eagles to Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. Whitesnake and Van Halen. Sammy Haggar band. Ok bedtime. 57 years old.

70's also had the mean green which would put a smile on your face. Not as potent as that stuff tracking through the neighborhood these days that makes you hate life for an hour or two. Bought a sack of Hawaiian back in the 70's. I think it was $20.00 for a nickle. Could get a quart sized baggie full of Mexican for that kind of dough.

Don't discount the 80's No saying it was the best. But,

Michael Jackson, Prince, Aerosmith, Madonna, Pink Floyd, Prince, Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Bruce Springsteen, The Police, Van Halen, Run-DMC, Billy Joel, Whitney Huston, definitely Leppard, Bon Jovi, Queen, Motley Crue, Kiss, Poison, George Michael, The Rolling Stones. Throw in the likes of Garth Brooks, Alabama, Clint Black, Reba Mcenitre on the country side. Keith Whitley for you sistersville. Vince Gill, Crossovers from decades prior Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Rodgers, etc.

The 80's get labeled as Hair Bands but there was much more than that. There are some big names that came from the 80's.

I will also throw this out G n R's Appetite for Destruction is one of the best debut albums of all time. Maybe I would put it up any against any other debut album by anybody.

Dreh this year its white zombie. White seeds too. then the afghan crush. You can smell a plant 50 yards away. This guy I know pulled his 4 plants last night. About a pound after its dried. Beats any kind of anti depressant and the side affects are nothing. no addiction. When they legalize it people will be charged 20 to 30 a gram. Good ol boys who grow it as good as the government well sell you some for 10 a gram and if a friend will give you a bag. Its the most beautiful plant.

Axl made guns and roses look so bad walking off the stage all the time. The worst was when the front james hatfield of metallica got burned really bad by a fire. Metallica had to leave the stage. Then guns and roses could have saved the day. Nope they played 2 songs and axl walked off the stage. The people had a riot which I didn't blame them. They tore up jack. This all happened in Canada. They had one good album. I heard welcome to the jungle on its premire on headbangers ball. knew it was a big time hit. I like skynard better. One reason is they have so much more music. I hope tom petty had a lot of unrecorded music.
