This is Dan Shoemaker's daughter, Hannah. Shortly after my father passed last April, I saw the kind words many of you wrote. I am so grateful so many others got to share in his love of Marshall and learn from his insight.
As my family believes my dad would have wanted, we have started a scholarship in memeory of my him. This scholarship, sponsored by the Big Green, will solely benefit future Marshall athletes.
My dad once told me that if not for Marshall, he would not have had the opportunity to earn a college degree. Through his degree, he helped so many people as a teacher, coach, and mentor. His graduate degree from Marshall allowed him to influence so many more in the sports industry. My dad always wanted to give back to Marshall. I hope that this endowment scholarship will give future students the opportunity to benefit from Marshall in the way my dad did.
