This is the biggest week of the season so far. @USA and then @ULL. South Alabama is currently ranked 132 in KP and 138 in Net (if they were in the top 135, a win here would be considered a Quad 2 win, thus making it the best resume building win of the season). South Alabama holds the best defense in the conference (93.6 Def Eff), but gives up the most amount of 3's. They turn you over a ton and play at a really slow tempo to shorten the amount of possession in the game. Creating/making good looks and taking care of the ball are the obvious keys to this game. ULL sits at 317 in KP and 316 in Net. Don't be fooled by their ratings though, after a brutally tough non-con the Cajuns have been playing decent basketball in SBC play. Any road game is tough.
Marshall currently sits at 181 in KP and 186 in Net. Throughout conference play only, they boast the league's second best offense (111.2 points per 100 possessions) and rank in the top 5 of the conference in many other categories including Effective FG%, Off Reb %, FTA/FGA, and 3p%. They have been turning the ball over a ton though, with a turnover rate of 17.2%, which ranks 10th in the league. The defense has been better in my opinion then the numbers say, but their defensive efficiency is 10th in the conference at 105 points per 100 possessions, which is actually an improvement from non-con. Just shows that teams tighten up their defense during conference play.
Individually, OAK is 9th in the entire country in Block% (11.6), while Dezayne Mingo and Nate Martin are both 94th in the nation in Assist Rate and Off Reb% respectively (29.0 for Mingo & 12.7 for Martin).
