sorry but what he said is true. The Constitution is an document that helps govern our nation. It came many years after our nation (1788) was founded by the Pilgrims and Puritans.
Here is a breakdown of the Mayflower Compact which was signed on Nov 11, 1620
- the colonists would remain loyal subjects to King James, despite their need for self-governance
- the colonists would live in accordance with the Christian faith
- the colonists would create one society and work together to further it
- the colonists would create and enact “laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions and offices…” for the good of the colony, and abide by those laws

not sure about that Herdman I would have to look it up. It is true that the early Colonists, who were overwhelming Christians bore arms, if for no other reason for protection from the Native Americans. Honestly, that has nothing to do with the statement that the Pilgrims/ Puritans were Christians who came here for the ability to worship God. The issues of the 2nd amendment came about much later.

Okay, I will try one more time. Yes, I am well aware of the 1st Amendment. But that is not what we were discussing. We were discussing who settled this nation. We were discussing their intentions when they arrived. The Constitution is a governing document that was written 160 years after the Pilgrims arrived. The Establishment Clause was placed there not to keep us free from religion but to ensure the govt would not set up a "official state sanctioned" denomination like they had done in England (Anglican) or Germany ( Lutheran) or Italy ( Roman Catholic). So yes, the people who founded this country were Christians who wanted to set up a nation where one could worship God. One of the motivations coming to the New World and one of things they loved and they wanted to implement was religious freedom and this freedom to worship God and to walk with Him according to the dictates of one's own personal conscience "And they passed it on from the Pilgrim forefathers to the founding fathers . "And the founding fathers took those principles and wrote the Declaration (of Independence) and the Constitution based on those Christian principles."
So that's how a small, hardy band of Christians set the stage for what would become the most liberty-minded, most prosperous, and some would argue the most spiritual nation on earth, all based on biblical principles. Sorry if that historical fact doesn"t fit your narrative but the truth will set you free!
I didn’t even bother to read your entire novel but after the first sentence I saw where you again are attempting to twist the argument. If the US Constitution isn’t relevant to you in our discussion, there is no sense in continuing to debate you. It’s like arguing with an elementary student.

So no, we weren’t discussing intentions of folks when they arrived. There is absolutely nothing in the US Constitution to support America being founded on the gospel of Jesus Christ.
