Birmingham bowl

Watched the second half. Neither team looked great. Lots of hard hitting though. Shane Carden got rocked a couple times.

Aggravates me that we should have had a bowl like that playing a bad Florida team. Would have killed to have a bowl against them. Much bigger win against even a bad UF team over a decent North Illinois team. Another reason we need to get out of CUSA.

The American isn't in a much better situation. Most of their bowls are leftover from the Big East and they lose a lot of the better bowls in the next year or 2.

Nobody will disagree. Where/how do you propose we do that? Do you think Mile hasn't thought of that too?

that's not exactly true. we just began a new 6yr cycle on Bowl game contracts that include a lot of combo deals, 2yrs, 2 yrs, 2yrs..... 3 and 3's etc. American's contracts are consistent and consistently better than MAC, CUSA, and SBC. There are years when CUSA opportunities are better than this past year. Miami Beach will come into play for example

ECU outgained Fla by a healthy margin. Offensive mistakes and very unsound fundamental defense did them in.

IMO Carden will struggle at pro level....lacks in pocket mobility/bad feet and not that accurate...especially under pressure. Hardy, on other hand, has a chance to be a pretty decent pro from what I've seen

I think DShoe is right in his comments that CUSA a does get some better chances in some years. Miami Beach bowl opponent such as BYU could be better than a MAC team But nothing we can do about that. I choose to enjoy watching The Herd.

As for both sucking I disagree but that is me. I may wish a P5 school was the opponent but the actual bowl was a blast. My wife and son thoroughly enjoyed themselves as did I plus it was a chance to watch Marshall one last time. I wish the date was around 12/28 instead but they at least we're making efforts to make it a nice trip!!! The fan fest before the game had things for kids to do which was nice. Plus the weather in south Florida was great.
