Predictions for Every 2015-16 College Football Bowl Game
St. Petersburg Bowl

Give UConn coach Bob Diaco some credit. In one year, he knocked off Houston from the list of unbeaten teams, took the Huskies to a bowl and created a rivalry trophy with Central Florida.
What have you accomplished lately?

Anyway, Marshall's quietly done a nice job following up on last year's 13-win season by going 9-3 and finishing second to Western Kentucky in the Conference USA East division. Normally, playing UConn results in more trouble than anyone would like to admit, so expect the Huskies to keep things close.

In those types of games, however, even the worst offenses need a big play or two. The Huskies might struggle to manage that much.

Projected Winner: Marshall

I'll be disappointed if we don't win this. UConn football = nothing. No respect for them at all.

Why does the result of Houston's game matter to us?
I imagine he wants them knocked off their high horse as a conference, all you gotta do is go to AACbbs conference talk board and read some of that crazy crap. They really do consider themselves part of the Power 5 and way better than everyone else even though they finished below us at the 3 spot last year. If any conference deserves that, it would be the MWC with all their past success and of course the bell cow in Boise. We need to win our AAC bowls.

I guess I don't bother with other conference's message boards or talking points. I don't care what happens in that game. I just want CUSA to win all of our bowl games.

I'd say the AAC is easily the best G5 conference this year. It seems there's more parity in the G5 conferences than was initially thought. I suspect it'll rotate each year, with AAC getting "top G5 conference" most of the time, followed by the MWC then CUSA. We had a solid year last year, but a lot of that was driven by the other G5's being pretty poor.

It will rotate between us, AAC and MWC, some years even the MAC. I wouldn't go as far to say they will be top G5 most years.

We can hate on the AAC and how they think they are so much better than the other G5 conferences all we want. But at the end of the day, I'd take an invitation to their league in a heart beat

The AAC must get raped this bowl season, its not a win for us but we dont want AAC teams to gain legitimacy like Boise State has developed.

I don't quite understand this thought process. Why would we wish other non p5 conference be viewed as weak wannabes? It ends up lowering our overall stature and legitimacy even more than it already is.

No one is saying we wouldn't want our team there, but all things considered its not worth the money of departing and joining unless that conference was able to acquire more TV money, and of course how our future TV deal pans out.

I don't think we are hating on them as much just calling them on their fictitious "P6" bs they keep spouting, again they did not finish first or second last year among the G5. No one will deny that they have better bowls that we would like to have. As Geaux said, they do not have one Boise level team that is good year in, year out, and next year will tell the tale. Honestly us and LA Tech have been the only constants in CUSA for the last 2-3 years

The G5 needs priority good for all just need to capitalize like Boise. I think WKU and Houston can ,as well as , Marshall . When the next realignment happens we will be in position. hopefully we will move to 6-16 team leagues and be absorbed by a bigger conference.

I like where your head is at, but that is a pipe dream... There is no way that the big boys are going to want to split the P5 pie 96 ways. Hell, the top half of the P5 teams hate that they have to carry the Kentuckys, Purdues and Wake Forests of the world already.

Realistically, the best chance we have to move up (whether actual or perceived) is if the Big 12 takes two teams from the AAC (maybe Cincy and Memphis) so they can have a championship game and we move with Southern Miss or WKU into the AAC.

agree great thought a pipe dream at best. We need to win and enjoy the view from where we are. If we get an invite to AAC then we must decide if it is worth it. May decide we are better off being a bigger fish in this pond than an equal size fish over there IMO>

maybe a dream I'll admit but I remember I believe the LSU coach proposing this. With travel cost rising and geographic rivals becoming better fan option, Marshall one of the few schools seeing attendance rise is attractive. The brand is becoming stronger if we can increase student enrollment we will be in position to join a more respectable league not made of fresh "football programs" We all know the playoff are going to expand. I do think there will be a split as other have mentioned with the price of paying for players.JMHI
