Brad Lambert fired

He has a senior-laden team this year I think. With that in mind, who knows where next year was headed.

He's gotten some really good interior linemen, both sides of the ball but particularly on O. Wonder if he's built a solid recruiting base in the Carolinas and Virginias? Wonder where he'd fit on our staff? Seems like Head positions for now would be from FCS programs.

"In 2016, he became the first Conference USA coach to defeat traditional league powers Southern Miss and Marshall on the road in the same season."

I'm pretty sure somebody has done that before. Glad to know we were their bar, but I hope they know the 2016 loss to them is more embarrassing to us than the '07 loss to New Hampshire.

I know they have a lot of Marshall people in their program, but that program has been, from Day 1, about the idea that they could pour water on some shoulderpads and throw money into some middle-of-the-road facilities and immediately take our spot. I have detested them for that very reason.

That is what happens when you change AD's. Every AD wants his own people. Brad was hired by Judy Rose. She retired before the year started. I imaging that he knew he would be gone unless he had a miraculous year this year

Umm no it wasn’t worse than new hampshire

We beat UNH by one point in the first game ever at the Joan, and if a Marshall fan went home that night and hit skins with their Mrs. and produced an offspring, that child would have been legally able to drink the day Charlotte started their football program.

It was wayyyyy TF worse.

Ok cool we are talking about the 2007 loss to New Hampshire

I remember the 2007 Miami (FL) game. We were down 17-0 at the half and hadn’t been able to accomplish much of anything and during the halftime interview, The Tan Man exclaimed, “Now we’re playin’ some football!!!!”

Another WTF moment to me.

Another one of the CUSA "potential" deals. "Just look at all the millions of people that live there" and "just look at how many students, and therefore alumni, they have". Yep, and 99.9% of them do not give a flying f*** about UNCC football.

It is a market with many alumni of major programs within an easy drive (UNC, Clemson, Wake, Duke, USC, etc.), many move ins from up north that do not get into the local scene, NBA, NFL, and AAA baseball, and 1000 non-sports things to do.

UNCC pattern will be to burn through coach after coach, every five to seven years, never being more the "decent" or "respectable". You need fans to build a program, and this is just another "potential" program that just does not have many.

BINGO! They should have stayed in FCS football until had a solid winning tradition, that included multiple FCS playoff appearances and maybe even a Championship much like App State, Georgia Southern and Marshall... Currently that is what Kennesaw State is doing and they are starting to build some traction because they are winning on a realistic competition level. And if you think Charlotte is overcrowded when it comes to established allegiances, you ought to see Atlanta. Where Georgia, Clemson, Auburn and Al-uh-Bama are all within a 3 hour drive. Unfortunately even Georgia Tech plays second fiddle to those 4 teams when it comes to Football.
