Others crouched at a spot where the water trickled down to the pavement. Jorge Díaz Rivera, 61, was there with 11 Clorox bottles. He lives in a community a few minutes’ drive away where there is no water, no food, and no help. The National Guard helicopters have been passing overhead, and sometimes he and his neighbors yell at them, pleading for water. But so far he has seen no help.

“They have forgotten about us,” he said

They have forgotten us is simply bullshit politics. Look, I empathize with that guy because a tragedy is all local and if it is you it is major to you. But, the US is throwing a lot a Puerto Rico. It is a damn tough situation even for the US govt and military. They are doing the best they can while dealing with 2 other major weather events(Harvey and Irma). Plus, other operations in the world.

Puerto Rico is an island. It is not like getting materials and supplies into Texas or Florida.

the fact that puerto rico is an island is not new to most of us. i suppose trump is the except.

they new a week ahead of time this was a catastrophic storm, maybe he should have been
taking care of his job rather than holding campaign rallies picking petty juvenile fights.

we need more leadership and fewer excuses.

Bull shit politics.

Why hasn’t the Puerto Rican governor called up all the national guard? Only about a quarter of the 8000 troops have been called up if the island is so devastated why hasn’t the mayor of San Juan gone to meetings with FEMA in order to plan and manage response. If the island is without power how did the mayor of San Juan get a custom screen printed T-shirt saying we are dying? The answer is politics.

PR isn't as bad off as the VI but it's getting all the attention because of politics. After Irma, the PR national guard was sending its troops to the VI because ST Thomas and John were hit much harder than PR, then they got hit again by Monica. You're not hearing shit about that.

The support is there, the food and water and meds are there, it's logistics that's the problem. Most roads are only drivable by pick up sized vehicles, not tractor trailers. That's puts a big bottle neck on getting relief to the people. It took over a week just to clear out the ports so supplies could even get that far, let alone inland.

There are allot of monday morning logistic masterminds out there with twitter accounts, and they're all fvcking morons.

I would probably be the first to slam Trump if this was a man-made shitshow. But it's not.

At least the VI are a lot smaller and less populated. PR is going to take a long time to fix.
