Byron Leftwich

Very happy for him. He was my hero back in his Marshall years. It was such an exciting time with him as the Herd QB. His antics against Akron with a broken tibia and his GMAC bowl performance were unforgettable. I'm thrilled that he has led the Tampa Bay offense to a SB title. Talk about a major resume booster! I remember the Philadelphia Eagles were considering him for HC even before his SB win!

Maybe they should have considered giving him an interview then.

I felt bad for him when he did the post game interview when an interviewer called him "Brian", the first 2 questions were about the defense, and the rest was about Mahomes.

He and Tom, showed Tampa how to play for championships. Congratulations Byron and to the entire Buccaneers Team!

He was very polite in correcting the questioner, telling him that it was "BYRON," not Brian, and deflecting from a response about the defense. All in all a very classy interview. But we already knew he is a class individual. If he is not a head coach after the '22 season there should be an investigation.

Did anyone see this? Clueless reporter thought Byron was the defensive coordinator:

Not sure why my link isn't working. Just Google the below if anyone is curious:

BUCS' BYRON LEFTWICH TO REPORTER, I'M NOT TODD BOWLES, WRONG BLACK GUY!
"I think you got the wrong guy!" That was Byron Leftwich's response to a reporter who confused the Tampa Bay Bucs assistant coach with another guy from the Bucs coaching staff, Todd Bowles.

I have thought for a long time that journalism is dead. Most in the media (political, news and apparently sports) must be lazy and incompetent because that post-game was terrible. I mean it's the Super Bowl. Get it right or don't get it at all...

They're more concerned with having that tweetable comment that goes viral. Actual news is dead. We don't get news anymore. We get some headline meant for clicks or we get an opinion presented as fact.

There is no such thing as news anymore. I don't care what channel or publication you are reading it from.

It does indeed seem like that.

If you remember his time at Marshall, Leftwich used to openly dare opposing teams to blitz him. Even though he had big stats, on the field after the 2001 Bowling Green game Byron gave their first year head coach a huge compliment -"I don't know who is coaching them but he's doing a hell of a job." He wasn't being sarcastic - it was Urban Meyer. If/when Byron gets a HC gig, it's cool to think he may get to coach against him.

If there was one aspect of life I could wind back to how it was when I was a kid, the only news on TV would be the evening news, it would be bland AF, and when I switched over to ESPN they'd be showing highlights and summaries of all the important sporting events happening around the country. I wish there was a "PLAIN TOAST" setting on the media that I could hit and just get boring ass raw information.
