How can something be sold by a california company but not eligible for sale in California? Weird stuff. I bought a gas powered generator and the company is based in California but, the box states not legal for sale in California. Weird stuff. They have something about gas engines. What about if you buy it another state and take it to California? Do they have generator police?

I had read that California regulations on gas engines were one reason that Honda left the lawn care business.

Mine is a Chonda. Chinese Honda Copy. hahahaha
You sound like one of my neighbors. He has several mowers, but each one is owner assembled from parts from about seven different brands. Wheels from a Craftsman, Honda deck, engine from some brand he traded for at a Flea Market. Of course, he doesn’t bother with any of the safety cables or shut off switches; he throws those away.

'MERICA!!

first mods i did to my last new lawn tractor was bypass the seat shut off and reverse deck cutoff switches and remove the mower deck chute blocker, or whatever it's called (part that sends the clippings directly into the ground versus allowing them to be spread out).

I'm with you on the cut-off switches but the deflectors are there for a reason, particularly if kids are around.

I've had a rock from a city mower hit the door of my vehicle pretty hard.

Those open chutes can be especially bad when mowing around pea gravel used in landscaping. It is like spraying the area with a machine gun. My Honda push mower has no opening on the side, it is on the back. I can use a lever to close it off for mulching or open it for shooting the clippings into a bag. I believe there is an accessory that goes in the opening to disperse grass clippings, but I have no interest in that.

cut-off switches are there for a reason, also, and also particularly if kids are around.

if i was able to throw rocks from underneath my mower and hit a car traveling by, or even a neighbor or their property, it'd likely turn into a drinking game at my place attempting to do it because it's like a quarter mile to my closest neighbor and another 1/8th of a mile to the highway. only thing i have to worry with hitting is the livestock walking around outside the fence surrounding my place. well, that, or one of our vehicles.

i got rid of that mower though. i now pay a kid that started a mowing business to mow my yard $50/cut. figure i can pay him for upwards of 6 or 8 years for what i'd pay for a new mower.

The nimrod down at the beach camp did that for awhile and was spraying gravel all over the place and knocked all kinds of holes in the siding of people's places. What an idiot. Pissed me off. A lady put new siding on hers and he went right through and was spraying it like buckshot.

Years ago a bunch of us went over to Ohio to that place there across from Huntington that has the driving range and go karts. We figure out that you could reach back while driving and bypass the governor on the go karts. You just had to drive one handed but you could fly. worked out well until they kicked us out.

Yeah, I remember being kicked out of a lot of those go kart tracks when I was younger: “You’re driving too fast. You’re too reckless. You’re too close to the kart in front of you.”
