Charlotte Game Cancelled

Knew that was going to happen!

Now we are back to having two weeks off again! Need to schedule something for the 28th.

Edit #2: BYU is open the 28th.

So, again the ? - what is a football team to do? Whether by blind luck or well-monitored hygiene/protection, Marshall has stayed 100% eligible to play this season’s slate. As has been discussed ad nauseum, you can’t throw a game together in less than about 2 weeks...aren’t we just screwed? Cuz time is running out....

This game will have to be played since its a divisional matchup.
I guess the conference will have to extend MU the same efforts they've given the West division in allowing them to complete important games.

You’re are correct in that this game needs played. But you’re talking about the conference that straight up robbed a home championship game from us. I don’t trust them to make any rational decision when it comes to our schedule.

The only option there is UNCC comes to Huntington on Dec. 5 and the Rice game gets dropped.

Oh, trust me, I am aware of the idiocy in the leadership of this conference.

Given that everyone else is having problems this week, I'll bet CUSA and others will push back their title games.

I would think that would the best course of action. But we are speaking of CUSA here. Those idiots can’t see the forest for the trees.
Charlotte-Marshall college football game postponed due to COVID-19

No. 15 Marshall's game scheduled for Saturday against Charlotte has been postponed due to issues the 49ers are having with COVID-19.
"We were really looking forward to this game. Marshall has a tremendous team and it was a big opportunity to compete against them," Charlotte athletics director Mike Hill said in a statement. "We've been on both sides of these postponements, and either way, it's incredibly disappointing. We will use this week to get healthy and wish Marshall the best this season."

Conference USA will attempt to reschedule the game, according to Charlotte.
The Thundering Herd (7-0) aren't scheduled to play again until they host Rice on Dec. 5.

Charlotte is scheduled to play FIU on Dec. 5 and has no game the following week. We play at FIU the 11th. Those are divisional games. Charlotte is also scheduled to play WKU the 28th. Also a divisional game.

FIU is scheduled to host La. Tech 11/28. Rice plays UTEP that day, a divisional game.

I think CUSA needs to blow up the cross-divisional games from weekend of 11/28 on to try to get the divisional games in. Mark them out and fill in the games that need to be played. That decision needs to be made Tuesday and new schedule released then if that’s the way they want to go, which it should be.

One solution would be having Marshall and Charlotte play 11/28, then bump Charlotte/WKU to December 12, since both are off that weekend as of right now. Charlotte needs to play MTSU, too. So that would take more maneuvering to get that game replayed.

NCAA needs to back off the Dec. 19 hard finish date. Or we are to the point of them becoming cancelations because we are running out of time.

How? Bowls start on the 19th. There are 14 bowls between 19th and 25th. That is about as late as you can get. What they need to back down on is the hard 6 games to the Championship rule.

Move the bowls if need be. Not really that hard with such limited fan involvement anyway. ESPN runs most of them. They can adjust the dates and times.

I prefer an adjusted CUSA schedule beginning 11/28.

This is maybe doable for the minor bowl games in that first week, but there is no chance ESPN is going to move bowl games featuring SEC/Big10/Big12/etc teams, the Jan 1 games will be played on Jan. 1 and the playoff games wont be moved.

My guess is in the next few days we will hear that the Rice game has been dropped so we can play Charlotte and they can play UTSA. If any future games are lost due to COVID, they will just be considered cancelled and CUSA will have to live with dropping their six-game rule to play in the CUSA title game.

I think people need to prepare themselves for the strong likelihood that there will be no conference championship this year, and no conference champion.

If by some chance we manage to play 1-2 more games, I would assume whoever we are matched up against in the championship game will get so much COVID from their 12/12 game that they just can't make it, sorry Marshall, I guess we'll be co-champs, and then Judy will give them a trophy too.

The bowl games that would be affected would be all of the pre-Christmas games. They’re not major. All you’re looking at is a time slot at this point.

While this may be one of the dumber posts this season, your optimism is appreciated.
If the season ended right now, MU is the champion by miles.

The Rice game was probably going to get dropped anyway since they need to make up a possible meaningful game vs UTSA
Honestly, the conference needs to focus on divisions. It seems MU doesn't need to play any more West division teams, they already beat one of the top 2.

MU needs MTSU to beat FAU, if that happens, its probable MU would only really need to beat Charlotte to lock up the division. Yeah, its likely MU beats FIU too, but at this point, CUSA should consider cancelling meaningless games between bottom teams and allow the top teams to finish properly and schedule accordingly.

Now wait a minute, you just said that MU could stop playing football right now and be unanimously declared Conference Champion by all conference members. Which is it?

Hold on. We can't be declared champs cause cusa hasn't come up with a directive yet to screw us. I get that we're dealing with covid, but the schedule was set at the start of the season. Don't want to show up at the scheduled time. Blame covid, but you forfeit and it goes down as an L against you. Let's move on.

Both actually...
MU is unbeaten in conference play..
nobody else is. MU is the winner.

MU plays out its division with FIU and UNCC, wins out (and FAU losing to MTSU would seal it), they win the East and likely play UAB, a team who lost to LT, that got smoked by MU.

So its the conference that has been screwing MU out of titles all these years and not Doc?
I agree, should just be a loss, but nobody's doing that elsewherr except in the Big 10 with "No Contest" I believe.
