Chuck wrote again today (Christmas Morning) in the H/D about how bad the Boca Bowl was, and on and on and on.

He reminds me of a former brother-in- law kept "dogging" a new car I bought. It was not the kind he had and therefore mine was no good. He would tell me this over and over and over again.

How about some articles about the players, the coaches and loyal fans that provided a super season for us this year ???

Chuck is just bitter that he has no access and that he is always wrong. If I was wrong as much as he was I would just give up but he just keeps plugging along.

Tried to ignore the tool, but lit him up on HD anyway. I mean how was this game and this bowl any different from past bowls? Unless we make a New Years 6 this is about par for the course. I say win these games and enjoy the Herd.

Merry Christmas everyone. Chuck has a few quirks but his article today was the truth.

Chuck is spot on and this bowl was horrible. This is why Marshall football will never be relevant. Because fans accept a pathetic schedule and then accept and buy into Hamrick bowl picks against another MAC team. I think we are secretly wanting back into the MAC bad. We try and play at least 4 teams a year along with a Rhode Island or Norfolk St . Bigtime football huh?

I don't think we want back in the MAC. I think we wanted wins and got them. The schedule was weakened and I don't have a problem with that premise. This year it went to far and there is a happy medium there somewhere.

you're right about him being angry that he gets no access. He's not a reporter but writes opinions. What's ridiculous and why he has little credibility is that before the game, in his analysis, he said it would be a tough, close game and predicted the score to be 27-24, if I remember correctly. After the fact, he writes like he knew all along we would blow them away, and proceeds to pick it apart and how this is why we will never be taken seriously. Right now given bowl results thus far, it would appear that C-USA is looking like it may be the best G5 conference as we are beating teams from other conferences. It would appear Mountain West is living off of Boise State reputation, ad should they lose their bowl game then what? that being said we have to see how other G5 teams do.

I don't hate Marshall football success at all. I hate seeing fans think we are bigtime when we didn't play one school that comes close to bigtime and played a pathetic schedule. We beat a bunch of MAC teams and Rhode |Island along with a weak CUSA. Stop trying to make Marshall out to be on the level of real football teams until Hamrick schedules somebody decent and THEN they get to a big bowl game. It won't ever happen mark it down.

My point was this....The game is over, we played very well, the other team was ranked 2 slots behind us, let us enjoy the victory.

Illinois' glory days are long gone, give it up now, it's over.

If we had not played "the best available team" these same fans would probably be complaining, saying we didn't want to be challenged and only wanted to play for wins.

And we are big time in basketball lol.

Herdman has 2 accounts so he can respond to himself.

I would rather play a 4-8 Notre Dame anyday over a 11-2 NIU team. And i realize 4-8 doesn't get a bowl, but you get my point. PERCEPTION. If Illinois days are over then NIU has never begun. They are horrible and a MAC team. But seems some of you just love playing bthose MAC teams. This year was no more special than Snyders last year when we played Ohio U and we are 6-6 in a bowl. If this is the best you can do at 12-1, then this is the best Marshall will EVER do, PERIOD!!!!

I do not have two accounts. I have been on this board since 98 or 99. Or what was the board prior to the current format. I love Marshall football. Hell it is a big part of my life and will be bigger in the years to come. I am decked out in Marshall clothes all the time. If I didn't care I would not.come.on this message board.

I only say what a lot.of people are saying outside if this forum. I like doc and what he has done. I am grateful for it. The bowl game pissed me off because we deserved more and beating Illinois would be better PR that playing a 4th MAC team. We did pull a choke against WKU. That is what it is.

The Boca bowl was BS. THAT'S ALL. I don't hate anybody or anything other than commies and terrorists.

I think we all want what's best for MU.

Our perceptions are very different.

IMO beating a higher ranked team (regardless of conference) is better for MU. I don't think there would have been any great ground swell of headlines nationwide if we beat a mediocore Big Ten team. NIU has received more national attention the past four years that ILL.

You are seriously the one person on this board that if I knew in person I'd punch in the damn mouth lol.. Just shut up already you have no point.. Our future schedules get better and Holiday has us in position to be the among the best G5 programs for some time!

Let me repeat this....We will NEVER play for anything significant in football unless you think playing a MAC team or unranked team in a bowl game significant. If we start playing better competition Doc will lose some of those games and we will be out. If we keep the same horrible schedule he will lose 1 and we will still be out. Be proud to be CUSA and MAC champs because that is as far as it goes. Mark it down.

I'm not going to mark it down because you are a damn idiot.. Let me know when the basketball team gets ranked in the top 25 and when that Serbian who couldn't beat me at 1 on1 turns into Jason Williams like you promised.

LOL....your football team has reached it's pinnacle playing NIU in a no name bowl. That is as good as it gets. I will be the first to say that basketball may never get there. But there is that chance at playing in the tourney. You are at your pinnacle in a fantasy world playing NIU and pretending you are playing Alabama or Auburn.

First, I don't believe this is the pinnacle.. I fully expect us to reach an Access bowl game in the next 5 years.. Then that may be the pinnacle for our program but that has nothing to do with the program that has to do with the system.. And yes in Basketball there is a great system where theoretically anyone can play their way to a National Title.. But you are trashing a football program for doing all it can do within a system.. While talking about basketball like it's this bastion of greatness when it CAN'T even come close to taking advantage of the system it has been provided.

With the roster we have returning, we could reach in the next 3 years if not next year

No they are not doing everything they can do. When you schedule Rhode Islan, Norfolk St and every MAC team you can get your hands on, that is not doing everything you can. And wake me up when Doc gets us to that pinnacle. You have to play someone first and he won't out coach anyone. He can only out talent them9He gets credit for that).

The very fact greenherdman used the phrase "your football team" when responding to a Marshall fan shows he's a troll from another school and should be moderated as such.

If you can out talent teams and get to 13-1 Conference and Bowl champions why should he and the rest of the staff even show up??

This year was a building block, not the pinnacle of what this program can be.

Now it's time to build on this season and do bigger & better things with the P5 teams we have on our future schedules. If Louisville wouldn't have backed out, there wouldn't be too much complaining about our schedule. Everything was out of our hands this year except what we did in the field. And we achieved 13 out of 14 games. As good or better than we've done in every season we've been D1A except 1999.

If say an Iowa at 7-5 had been in the HOD Bowl and we chose to go to Boca, then I'd be ticked. As it stands, neither option was going to move the needle much, as far as national perception goes. It's really pointless to argue, it's subjective either way. In my (obviously biased) view, Marshall is probably the best G5 team this year. Boise was boosted by the equity they built over the last 10+ years. Give Utah State their resume and I doubt they get the access bowl. Boise can prove me wrong by showing up against Arizona.

I still prefer one more game per year against lower-tier (home and home only) P5 teams. Hamrick is trying to do that. Hard to get them to do that though.
Next best choice would be to play ONE MWC team per year. They would do one for ones. Lot of travel but it would be a way for us to be compared with their conference.
This would replace the Rhode Islands of the world.

Nah, greenherdman is green bison from the Herd fans board. I think they were smart enough to finally ban him so now we get the pleasure of his company.

There's no excuse for letting greenherdman post on here. I've tried to avoid the main board here as much as possible because of the general negative attitude about everything but he's just an obvious troll. Can they seriously not see that? He's on ignore but you all keep quoting him.

Also Landon is a professional troll who would bitch about how our New Years Six bowl was meaningless since it wasn't a playoff bowl if we got one, and would talk about how we don't have a chance all week anyway. He's an idiot. Stop reading him.

Regardless of anybody's opinion about the bowl, if you can't enjoy the win, THAT'S ON YOU, not some hack writer.

If you don't like what he has to say, don't read it. It's that simple. Then you can go on and "enjoy" the win on your own terms.

If you let anyone else with a different opinion than you impact your enjoyment or appreciation of any event, that's on you, not them.
