18M 41 sec O time, 63 plays less than 18 sec per play going to be a fun year to watch.
It’s one game against a poor opponent. There are things to be excited about but let’s not get out in front of our skis
Maybe a poor opponent, but one that runs an offense teams seldom see. This makes things difficult even when not as good. I am a Navy Vet so watch alot of their games and have seen them give even good teams problems due to how they play. One other thing when your D has to play more than 2/3rd of the game(41+ M on the field to 18+ M off) and limit any opponent to 7 points is a positive.

I’m not discounting any of that. I think it was a great start to the huff era. All I’m saying is let’s see if this continues and be cautiously optimistic.
I'm all for beating the brains out of everyone we can, score with the backups, play hard every second.
I will say now though, if we have a down year at some point, we can not whine and complain if teams hang it on us when they get a chance.

not that long ago Akron and some teams were hanging big numbers on us so yes I will enjoy this.

Almost every team in America does that and has for years. You’re just not used to it.
I'm all for it... But let's be honest, you and I have been on this message board a long time, and we both know the first time someone throws a bomb with 3 minutes to go in a 40 point game we are losing there will be guys on here whining about it and calling it low class or unsportsmanlike.
This ain't Doc ball. You could see the excitement Coach Huff and staff had on the sideline compared to the funeral march we saw with Doc every game. Coach Huff said scoring points is what it's all about no matter how much time is on the clock. Doc would have ran the ball the entire 2nd half and laid down and we probably would have squeaked out a win. Seeing us sling the ball down field at the 2 minute mark and gong for a TD told me everything. I've been waiting for this mentality for a long time. Score and don't let up! I liked what I saw on Saturday and I feel it will continue and get better with each game. GO HERD and put your foot on the throat of every team we play!
Of course, silly. That's how college football fans operate. We're fine piling on points as long as it's on our opponents. Zban puts his time in practice, film room, etc, too, and he deserves a shot at scoring even when playing mop up duty.
Fact is, if we don't put up a crap load of points against our opponents, we won't have "convincing wins," which sounds petty, but is sadly how we will always be viewed when being mentioned in discussions for the at large bids to NY6. John Holliday could never get that through his stubborn head. He liked to get a 7 - 14 pt lead and then sit on it, even it those points happened in 1st qtr.
I think there are a lot of us that were so tired of seeing that. Up 10 then - shotgun run middle 1st, run 2nd, throw short of sticks 3rd. Then punt the other team back into the game. Inevitably lose twice to teams your inferior because of it, OR because the team didn't show up to play that day and was inexplicably lifeless, unprepared, and undisciplined.
It felt weird seeing the 2nd string come in and keep firing the thing down field, but man if felt better than the torture fest above described.
I'll take it. And if we get outclassed and they hang it on us, we'll have to take that. So be it. This was a good start.
I think Coach Huff is trying to teach the men not to let up and keep going 100 percent and then some.

You have a two game schedule left. ECU and ASU. Then comes October and our conference. To avoid being a hypocrite, you should turn the TV off and ignore the rest of the season, and certainly the bowl game, it not being the Rose Bowl again this year. Look forward to your posts, next year.

I'm not crazy about the optics of throwing it deep on a service academy up 35, but we spent the last ten years burning up the garbage time in our victories by having our starters take knees instead of letting our backups get meaningful live reps. The result of that would manifest on a yearly basis, with players graduating or leaving and having to be replaced by people who'd never taken a live snap before. We were voluntarily throwing away our opportunity to develop depth, and then no surprise - depth was always our achilles heel.

yeah, but at the same time, Navy was trying their best to score a meaningless by TD calling timeouts with under 30 seconds left. I was hoping for a pic 6, lol....
I don't know a lot about Navy's coach, but his use of timeouts in the first quarter was a pretty big red flag he doesn't belong on this level. I've never seen someone go for it on 4th with a hard count, call timeout when it failed to draw a jump, and then go for it on 4th anyway. Why wouldn't you just snap it at :01 and save the timeout?
I understand they go for it on 4th a lot, but they could have hung in the game a lot longer than they did if their coach hadn't gambled them into a trashcan like a 12 year old playing Madden.

Why exactly are you here. Why is what MU fans say about “your” (same words as on your road card, no actual relationship) school so important to you?
Anyway, I correctly said, almost a month ago, that the Leftover Little 8 would either be reabsorbed into the other mid-major leagues; or it would try to save itself by “raiding” some teams. And, as usual, I was 100% correct.
I also stated that the Metro News / Gag-zette / WOWK spew machine would tell the mind numbed Spamies that whatever happened WAS major college football, and that these low IQers would accept what they were told 100%. And, as usual, I was 100% correct.
