Interesting look at attendance. Could foresee some of the schools dropping maybe get 1A back to 100 or 115 schools with maybe a raid of the CAA in JMU , Towson, William and Mary make for some absorption into a super league and best of Sunbelt. The pandemic might speed up the pretenders from the contenders. As a school we have invested in upgrades. Discuss... Rhode Island is neither a road nor an island.

This article has nothing to do with attendance. It’s about academic performance. BTW, WVU ranked near last. 109/130

ECU leads the G5 schools in average attendance over the past 5 years. I would bet that they had even a higher average the 5 years previous to that. They were a far better team then than now

Interesting numbers. I would have thought our 5 year average was higher than 24K.

The ODU numbers dispels the thought that they sellout every game in a 21K seat stadium. 87% capacity over 5 years.

the last two years have lowered that considerably

I just never saw the fascination some of our fans have with ODU. sure, they are in a large urban area with lots of talent but play in a rinky dink 21K stadium that they don't fill every home game. Look at us, much smaller area to draw from, much poorer, yet we outdraw them and would sell out that same size stadium if the Joan were only 21K seats. Hell, we average more than their stadium seats. And that's with Huntington losing thousands in population over the last two decades and MU's enrollment basically stagnant.

They have such a history of juicing their numbers though, I have to think that's a factor. I remember when they were auditioning for the Big East, they'd claim sellouts and then you'd see angles on gameday photos and huge sections of the stadium were empty.

I'm sure they, like all, use tix sold not butts in the seats for the for numbers.
As you know from attending games there, they do have a big time atmosphere on game day with huge tailgate areas and large crowds. I've not been to any bigger atmosphere of G5 schools. I say that but have not been to UCF since they have become a big time player

Everybody uses "Tickets Sold". Marshall didn't average 24K butts in seats.

There are dozens of ways to fudge attendance numbers, and I simply disbelieve many school's numbers. Among them ECU's. A quick look at any televised game tells the story.

As to ODU, I have never understood the fascination either. The Tidewater area is large, but nobody much there thinks about ODU. There are a lot of people in the service, or who settled there after it, who brought loyalties from back home; and a lot of the natives follow Virginia Tech.
