Colombi

I sort of wonder how bad it actually is/was and if perhaps he was going to medical redshirt in anticipation of Huff leaving and following him there. Just a conspiracy theory on my part. Why practice if you can’t play?

Article in Herald Dispatch quoted Huff saying that Columbi could have went back in the second half, but since they were just 'trying to run down the clock,' he saw no need in bringing him back in.

He also said in his post game that he chose not to throw it downfield because of the weather.

I swear Huff makes Snyder look like a genius.

The scary thing is there are a lot similarities here. Neither could manage personnel and both had stud RBs that they wasted. If you can't be successful with Ahmad Bradshaw and Khalan Laborn you don't deserve to be wearing a headset.

Makes sense. Wouldn't won't to hurt Colombi, let's hand the ball off to Laborn 84 times to win a game that doesn't even count. That quote is a far cry from what Huff promised when hired. Smdh

Laborn I’m sure is happy with the opportunity to carry the team most often, but he shouldn’t have to. We could have others to help but considering the Oline is having trouble making holes only leaves Laborn blasting his own.

The kid is never going to turn the ball down... You have to have coaches that can mix in other guys effectively.

We can not rely on Laborn for 35 touches a game the rest of the year, we just can't. It's not possible to do that for 12-13 games and its not fair to the player.

That's true. Didn't he say after the Navy game that the score doesn't matter, we will play until the end of the game?

Huff, at this point is showing the ineptitude that comes with never having been a HC before. He is learning as he goes, at the Herd’s expense. We can’t say we didn’t know this could happen! Maybe, years from now, we’ll look back on week #2 back in ‘22, when we got hot for a week and beat one of the Big Boys at their place…..

well if that is the case then we sure put him at risk when we didn't need to. Turner got 5 carries and Payne a big 0. You can't tell me that those two guys couldn't have handled a few more carries. Not sure why Payne is not getting any carries either.

I think Turner is the better of the two.
I don't know how you can come to that opinion based off of what we've seen which is very little to this point because the staff is scared to death to put anyone else in the game.

Payne has appeared in 4 games. He has 20 carries for 133 yards and 2 TDs with 45 being his longest. He is averaging 6.3 ypc.

Turner has appeared in 4 games. He has 13 carries for 78 and 0 TD with his longest run being 17 yards. He is averaging 6.0 ypc.

I am not trying to say Turner isn't good, but we shouldn't be writing Payne off at all. The fact is we have seen neither make any real appearances against FBS teams this year. The staff just won't allow either one of them to take any of the load off of Labron which is complete garbage.

Here's a game by game breakdown.

Norfolk State
Payne: 11 carries for 110 yards and 2 TDs and 10 ypc. Long of 45.
Turner: 6 carries for 44 yards and 7.3 ypc. Long of 17

Notre Dame
Payne: 5 carries for 7 yards on 1.1 ypc. Long of 5 Also 3 catches for 28 yards.
Tuner: DNP

Bowling Green
Payne: 2 carries for 9 yards on 4.5ypc. Long of 7. Also 2 catches for 22 yards.
Turner: DNP

Troy
Payne: 2 carries for 0 yards
Turner: 2 carries for 7 yards. Long of 7

G-W
Payne: DNP
Turner: 5 carries for 24 yards on 4.8 ypc and 1 catch for 24 yards and a TD.

Bottom line is both should be taking some of the load off of Laborn. They've both shown they're capable of being productive. You just can't send them in randomly and expect them to blow anyone away.

Exactly what he said after that game and during his press conference intro.

Yup. He said in his intro presser that we'd be the most hated team in the country because we would never stop trying to score. That teams would dread seeing us on their schedule. Now he's purposely not throwing down field because it's raining.

All his stats came against Norfolk. Turner has the higher ceiling

He has two carries against Troy
Turner’s footwork and speed seem to be better. I believe he also hurdled a DB during the Norfolk game. Points to some explosive ness. I’m not knocking Payne. He’s serviceable. But when it comes to all around back… Turner (as a freshman) seems to be different.

Not to be a dick, but after two months we still don't know what Ali's deal is. No one is going to know HC's unless his dad takes to twitter about it.

what’s cute is you just assume this is Marshall keeping meaningless information from you.

did ya ever think the kids family wants it just the way it is?

Nahhhh. Let’s just blame big bad Marshall for not telling you what is wrong with someone who isn’t playing. Who cares if it’s his knee, his head, his grades, bad eating habits, PlayStation elbow, or anything else. He isn’t playing. That’s all that matters.

Maybe Huff should have done a better job in being more coherent and consistent in hi statements. The only reason rumors started flying is because of his first statement. Then his second on just hours later was different than the first and then the third statement from athletic department was different yet again.

You make a great cult member.

It just is what it is. Injuries are part of the game and if we can gain some type if competitive advantage by not giving injury reports then I am all for it.

I find myself drifting into the " Huff is all talk" camp! It was hard not to be excited after his initial Press Conference and introduction to us. But last years product and this year's (6-6 at best) have me taking an 8 count. Yes, the win over ND was historic and I guess we'll always have that to relish but seeing him appear on talk shows that week taking a bow and obviously attempting to get his brand out there for a bigger job ,overlooking the week's prep for the BGSU tilt was concerning. He seems to have no answers for our offensive woes and I can't help but think we are rudderless at this point. But hope springs eternal, let's hope the time off he solve some problems and beat Louisiana next week.
