Crazy Stats/Records (Steve Cotton Is Great)

Cato is #3 all time in TDs accounted for. That is pretty amazing.

I tried to argue with folks all season long how Cato wasn't having a down year. He broke his own single season TD record this year. The only players accounting for more TDs this year were Mariota and Dougherty.

If Johnson can stay healthy next year there's going to be an awful lot of 2014 and 2015 entries in the record books.

I'd love to see the points/yardage comparison between 1996 and 2014 if both held their foot to the gas for a full 4 quarters. We'd probably be talking 50+ points per game and well over 8000 total yards for each.

So Butler isn't included in the records now? He averaged 8.8 a carry last year which would have put him #2 all time single season average.

Butler had 87 carries last year. Hellyer had 84 and Zontini had 91 so Butler is right between those two in number of carries.

Hellyer rushed for 737 yards on those 84 carries to give him 8.77 yards a carry in 1955

Butler rushed for 765 yards on those 87 carries for an 8.79 average last year.

The record should look like:

#1 Zontini 9.5
#2 Butler 8.8
#3 Hellyer 8.8
#4 Johnson 8.6

For whatever reason Butler seems to get very little credit for what he does.

You'll get no argument from me there. That's one area where we have a chance to improve next season, which is finding creative ways to get the ball in our play makers' hands. We showed some flashes of it for a series in the bowl with Foster. Not sure where that creativity was at all year.
