Crowley loses NY?

Aside - what YAGS is saying about NC I agree is BS. In my mind it should be any form of government issue ID is OK. Make it free if you have to.

My wife is the foremost expert on poverty in my sphere (J.D., former legal aid poverty attorney (landlord tenant/family law, etc), subsequently a director of non profit that served low income urban and rural minorities with education-related issues...now an evil white stay at home WASP mom). She's educated me a lot and I'm definitely more sympathetic to the plight of many of these young black kids - some of them have zero chance and the ones that make it out are heroes in my mind. She's pretty centrist - votes democrat often but not all the time (voted for Hillary), registered independent...she's OK with voter ID laws. She says the rural blacks are hurt way more than the urban blacks by voter ID law - for some of the reasons mentioned above.

More racist - asking for voter ID or infantilizing a chunk of the population?

Black people are being used as pawns by racists like rifle who claim they're too poor and stupid to get an ID all in the name of voter fraud. Dems want illegals and other minorities voting multiple times for their candidates.

Nailed it Rox!

The racist and fascist are on the left! Most are useful idiots too dumb to realize they have been so indoctrinated facts won’t sway them

Again, we hear the poor are ignorant, lazy, and incapable of basic life skills.

Leftist paternalism on full display...

Your racism is slipping through. Where did anyone claim they were lazy? Where did anyone claim they were incapable of basic life skills?

Nobody has made those claims. The claim is that certain voting requirements are far, far tougher for certain groups based on income, location, education, etc. The fact that these far tougher restrictions happen to overwhelmingly a barrier to blacks and/or those living in poor areas with little access makes them racist.

Voting requirements should not be barriers based on those things.

Welp, there we have it. Lets use an edited video showing eight blacks and eight whites to get their opinions. The video, much like the preacher's argument, is not the same as the argument being presented. Nobody is claiming every inner city black doesn't have ID. Nobody is claiming every inner city black doesn't have internet access. The claim is that those things are barriers in that a far greater percent of those living in poor, inner city areas (predominately blacks) have less access to them than those living in middle-income, suburban areas (predominately whites).

Even if a small percentage is barred from voting due to these requirements, it is a form of voter tax prohibiting a certain demographic from voting.

Have a little fvcking common sense. Anyone with any level of experience will tell you that inner city public transportation sucks. You think blacks and illegals in these 'hoods are going to wait for transportation, pay for that transportation, go wait in line to vote, then wait for more transportation, pay for more transportation, white in line to vote again, repeat, wash, rinse? Come on.

You truly think the people who acknowledge that these are barriers are wanting them removed so that people can vote more than once? A little common sense around here would be appreciated.

Having actually lived in a real hood in Pittsburgh where all the curb stores are run by Russians as fronts...they check the i.d.

Here it is Pakis and Arabs. They don't check shit...and sell crack/meth pipes. They used to sell Spice, too. And yeah I've been to their stores...before Indiana sold alcohol on Sundays I sometimes made a run to the West End of Louisville if I was running low for football games.

There are still some rural pockets where people are SOL on documents needed to now get an ID with the real ID laws. I know there is one county in Indiana where all the birth records burned in the early 1930s....if people even bothered to get one not long before that. My grandmother's birth record burned in that fire.

Since you’re a tornado guy you know this - but getting a new license after a natural disaster can be a huge PITA. Something I never really thought about before.

I’m still a voter ID fan but it should be made incredibly easy to get one. We could send a government car/wither equipped with a plastic ID printer to your house if you can’t leave it. None of this we’ll take your concealed carry but not your *insert other card* junk.

That is true. You can lose everything. And if it hits the courthouse too, well good luck. The system will be broken for months.

REAL ID is my main bitch with the ID voting laws. If you are poor and crashing with a friend or family member you won't be able to get an ID if no utilities are in your name and you don't have a car for car insurance. You will simply have no proof of your address. That should not disenfranchise someone. This was not an issue before REAL ID.

While we are on the subject,Don't forget that Crowley lost to a Socialist, 28-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who was tending bar a year ago. A Democratic Socialist, endorsed by MoveOn, Black Lives Matter and People for Bernie, Ocasio-Cortez favors Medicare for all, a $15 minimum wage, 100 percent renewable energy by 2035, free tuition at public colleges, federal jobs for all who want them, and abolishing an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that runs “black sites” on the Mexican border where “human rights abuses are happening.” Sounds like the blue wave is turning into a trickle
