Still early , however , we totally disappeared and did it so well we're not part of the list of schools that disappeared , like we drowned in quick sand. Could have stayed in the MAC been on a real television network and saved a ton of travel $$ by not having to practically go to Mexico and Cuba to play a couple of conference teams.

MTSU as an 11 seed is actually a pretty decent amount of respect. That means they're in regardless of whether or not they win the conference tournament.

Right now C-USA is rated at the 24th best conference but that's mostly because the bottom of the league sucks so bad. There are more top 150 teams in C-USA than there are in the Ohio Valley, America East, Horizon, Ivy, Patriot and WAC - which are the conferences rated directly above C-USA.

when was CUSA a multi-bid league?

oh, i remember, on those extremely rare occasions when Memphis didn't win the conf tourney.

and that's not even correct because the ONE time Memphis didn't win the tourney since we've been in the league they got sent to the NIT...

We're 13-9 with losses to Eastern Kentucky, UT-Chattanooga, and UTEP, and we like to consider ourselves a part of that "upper portion" of the league. If we're right, then we shouldn't be surprised the league gets no respect.

We're usually fun to watch and I love the Herd and all, but we aren't crashing the Top 25 or grabbing an at-large bid anytime soon.

You're correct.

I will say UTC is pretty good this year, though. They're in the RPI top 100 and favored to win their conference.

The EKU loss was blah at the time and looks worse now because their best player got booted for rape right after we played them.

The UTEP loss was a disaster.

There was a year Houston and Memphis made the tourney

Because Memphis was in the top 25 and was upset in the tournament in Tulsa. Houston won the tournanament and got the auto bid.

the only year Memphis didn't win the tourney during our/their time in CUSA was the 09/10 season (Houston). Memphis was a #3 seed in the NIT. they finished 24-10.

Second paragraph says it all , 24th best in the nation , not going to garner too much attention with that ranking. An 11 seed coming from a one bid conference is not all that shabby , but , point is , one bid and should someone besides MTSU win CUSA then MTSU goes in all likelihood to the NIT.

Right now MTSU is something like 28 or 29th in the polls. Hope they keep winning in next few games; good chance they could be in top 25 when they roll into the Cam on the 18th. Herd needs to show some kind of "pulse" in these next 3 road games; meaning win a couple, at least. Else fan interest in this season will take a quick nose dive, IMO. Right now Danny D's teams have been downright abysmal in road games; something like 8-28 in his 2+ seasons. However, a couple of road wins in next 3 games plus a win or two in next home stand could really turn this season in something very good. It all starts in Hattiesburg tomorrow night. GO HERD!!!

Before the season started, the consensus was "pretty good" which meant "3rd to 5th in the conference, maybe the NIT if everything falls just right". And exactly 3/4th of the way through, we are "pretty good" 5th in the league and everything has not fallen just right to get in the NIT. We will win the tournament (2% shot at that) or pay to play or not. As predicted.

CUSA is almost always going to be a one bid league. Middle might have a very outside shot if it wins out and loses the conference final, but its losses are bad.

Nothing really we did not know in October.
