Thugie will be just fine. Outlaw program, outlaw coach, outlaw players. He will find enough behavior problems to be solidly a sweet sixteen level team. That is his level.

In many ways they're in the same boat as us....two over hill coaches with questionable upside but the support of the administration and money guys. However , we'll get rid of Danny next season but Thuggs will be hard to turn out to pasture.

Thugie and DD are light years different. Thugie is a career mediocre college basketball coach, but at least he is that. While no one will ever confuse him with Adolph Rupp, he is capable of consistently presenting a serviceable also-ran team in a major conference, finishing third or forth and making the sweet sixteen or so before better talents and better coaches take over. DD is a retired HS phys ed teacher.

Sad to say, there was a very long era, probably from the end of the (certain NCAA probation if done today) Fred Schaus era until the late 00s, both programs were actually on a par with one another. WVU invested and demanded better and has moved up, not to the level its idiot fans think it is, but certainly into the upper also-ran level. We hire retread and local heroes and are fine with a token effort, and remain in the agate type.

No question, Thuggs is more accomplished as a college coach than Dan but I think Dan is more accomplished as a human being! Dan will not play .500 ball next season but will slip out the back door, I hope! Thuggs will not relinquish his multi million dollar a year salary without a fight up there. While I don't have a crystal ball, I think his ability to win two games in the dance are well behind him. and he'' go kicking and screaming when they let him go.
