Perkins just came 3 times.BOOOOO
I wonder what cool t-shirts we'll see Dan wearing next season. Oh the suspense! At least the big question was answered.
Yes, Marshall is simply FIU, and content with simply participating in basketball, without regard to wins and losses.
Bad question. It has nothing to do with recruiting and/or coaching abilities. We're fielding a team. Show up to games, contribute all you can afford to the program, and simply enjoy the fact that the Thundering Herd is participating in basketball. Wins and losses DO NOT MATTER. It's rah, rah, rah, let's all root for the team, even if they're down by 32 to another team that doesn't put much effort into their program either. What makes them think he can all of a sudden coach after eight years of same ol sh!t
We know your thoughts on Dan. Let's hear some updates on your take on Spears and Brad?? This is their decisionI wonder what cool t-shirts we'll see Dan wearing next season. Oh the suspense!
To be fair, one of those years was our all time best "shit"What makes them think he can all of a sudden coach after eight years of same ol sh!t
He probably bought into the ole shucks routine. What made the new AD think DD can turn this around in one year?
Wrong question. No thinking human is capable of thinking DD can turn this around, in one year or ten years. What made the new AD think DD can turn this around in one year?
1 great and 7 average to bad years. Never once being in contention for the best conference record. To be fair, one of those years was our all time best "shit"

Down home home cooking internal politics. He probably bought into the ole shucks routine.
You really think he made this call on his own? Three days into his job? This was a collaborative decision by Spears, Brad Smith and likely Jeff O'Malley as well. O'Malley knows the history and background of DD's tenure. jmhoSpears has lost me on his first week on the job.
And don't forget the BOG as well. You really think he made this call on his own? Three days into his job? This was a collaborative decision by Spears, Brad Smith and likely Jeff O'Malley as well. O'Malley knows the history and background of DD's tenure. jmho
It does not really matter now if DD is fired next year, or just retires in four or five years. The single question about the new regime has been answered. This is a token effort. We are playing MBB because, well, we have to. Its a rule. They are giving it the minimum resources possible. The fact that DD comes cheap is a part of that.
Recruits will know that, and we, as fans and as donors to the program should know it as well. They are not trying. And, when DD goes, whenever that is, the replacement will either be from his staff or some retread loser coach. They just do not care.
That question answered, there are a few more, we shall find out in the coming months.
I assume that the regime is all in on football. Otherwise, what is the point?
As to the “Olympic sports” my assumption likewise is this a token effort. Minimum resources.
As to soccer, my assumption is that the previous regime has committed major resources to that program and I want to believe that this crew will continue to fund it. I hope so. We shall see.
As to baseball, we shall see. If they are down for a token effort we will see the park quietly put on the back burner and eventually forgotten about.
But basketball? Question answered. We are not trying and are not going to try.
Hardly. We have had, over the years, many good coaches. Some worked out, some didn’t. Some were good hires, some were mistakes. Some left us high and dry, some were kept on too long. Some were retreads that did not deserve the second chance we gave them. Some were great assistants bound for big time success. But ALL were men who were legitimate men and were a part of a legitimate effort. They were trying and the management at the time was trying.it's been a token effort Sam. before DD got here and now. before smith and spears got here too. glad you figured it out.

This isn’t trying. This is hiring a retired HS coach and gym teacher. This is a token effort.

the last 40 years there is one constant...and it's not DD.There is a difference between failure and not trying. Anybody who is worth a darn has tried his or her darnedest at something and just couldn’t do it. That is failure.
This is just plain old not trying.
The idea that DD is losing because we don’t spend enough money on the sport is as laughable as the excuses DD spewed in his last press conference. We spend, by CUSA/SBC standards, plenty of treasure and time on MBB.
At least that was true. It is clear today that we have decided to make a token effort.

DD has only been here for 8-9 of those...delivering a couple of poor seasons, this year is one of the poorest in decades. He also delivered the all time high. pretty good result for not trying. if we were trying before (despite not investing) we just aren't very good at it if our pinnacle is the one lucky 8 day run that the HS gymn teacher/coach delivered and he was hired because we quit trying.
I'd like to here you go over when we were trying and the results.
This regime is on record as stating that 12-21, 10-21 vs. DI opponents, and 140-120, 133-120 vs. DI opponents, with one win over a team from a multi-bid conference out of nearly 30 tries, is acceptable for retention.I honestly believe this is his final year regardless.
DD loses next season, oh well, thanks for the memories.
Interesting. You think Brad and Spears will let DD stay as long as he wants. Wow. You must be really disappointed in the AD and President hires we made. This regime is on record as stating that 12-21, 10-21 vs. DI opponents, and 140-120, 133-120 vs. DI opponents, with one win over a team from a multi-bid conference out of nearly 30 tries, is acceptable for retention.
So next year, in a new conference that is yet less regarded that the previous one, eight or ten wins gets the job done. The very same people that thought this was acceptable will be making the decision yet again. No real reason to believe their values will change.
DD will be here until he wants to leave or his health fails him. His replacement will be held to a similar low standard. We are not trying.
Not really. As to the president, if the president of any college spends more than a total of three minutes in his day thinking about the athletic program, the school is in trouble. MU is WAY more important to this state than the Herd is. This state is in real trouble and MU is one of the few bright spots for its economic future. I think it was a great hire. We have already accomplished the repeal of the evil soda pop tax and replaced it with a fair (fairer) funding for all the medical schools.Interesting.
