There are no on field coaching jobs available at Purdue. Lambert was there last hire. They were hoping to be retained. It’s a tough business.Hate to see Price go, if true. In the presser he made it sound like all the coaches would get interviews. Maybe they wanted to move on. Maybe to Purdue.

Not so sure I totally agree with your assessment. Bastien and Haskins were in there first year here. Segler was in his second year. Cramsey and Adkins were in year three. Brown and Baker completed four years. Price was here the longest with nine years on staff. Our staff has been poached over the years. Mirabel to Oregon, Fuller to Memphis, Heater to Maryland, Treier to Florida State, Goebbel to NC State, Barclay to Western Kentucky come to mind. Also, I’m sure Lambert would of still left for Purdue if Doc had been renewed. When you're an assistant coach, you should always be looking for your next landing spot, because coaching can be a brutal business. Many of the staff members have been here for a while and may have gotten comfortable because of Doc's perceived security. Also, other programs weren't poaching the staff, which could also say something. Bottom line, as my grandmother used to tell me, "It's a poor rat that only has one hole."

Agree. But what is said isn’t always the 100% truth. I’m sure he has a handful of guys he wants to bring in and has already gotten the “let’s go!” from them. The interview might not have been an interview for them to keep their current position. The extent of his interview with some might have been:he specifically stated he owed them interviews. that's not much time to do several interviews and make a decision.
I'm fine with him starting new and getting his own hires but it does seem strange to say that and let the entire staff go hours later.
