Redshirting. The way I understand it this is to put a year between he and Drayton.

It's possible. Pitts can still play one more game before his RS is burned. It's smart on the staff's part because it allows us more depth not losing both Drayton and Pitts at the same time. If this season goes down the toilet completely then I don't want to see Pitts out there wasting eligibility on a lost cause.

No it's not. He and Drayton play the same position and are the same class. If Drayton is playing better, which he has been, then it makes sense to do this. That way Drayton graduates first then Pitts the next year.
