Devon Johnson Over/Under

I'd take the under as I'd expect the Purdue game plan will be to put an extra in the box to help contain Johnson and force Birdsong to throw to win the game.

I don't get all the games down here in Florida but from what I have seen DJ can go beast mode on any given play. I'm looking for him to break a few big runs and come close to that number.

He's fumbled it twice in ten touches. Coaches tend not to keep feeding that production.

It almost seemed to me he was too concerned with trying to remove people from hanging on to him (a natural reaction for most) instead of securing the ball and just running through people as he did last year. When he did that today he lost momentum and was less secure with the ball. Hopefully he gets back to the "Rock" solid we know.

He just might be a better back with the extra weight he had last year.

We'll see as the season progresses.

Can't fault him for the punch out fumble. Just a great hustle play by the Purdue defender.

Can't fault him? Assuming every team does ball handling drills every day which includes for when defenders try punching and ripping the ball out from behind after catching the ball carrier.

He fumbled (and Marshall lost possession) twice in about a dozen touches. Nobody has mentioned it, but he also had a big juggle on a perfectly thrown ball on his catch early in the game. If a defender had been within five feet of him, it would have turned into an incompletion or an INT which both would have been his fault.

He had a very bad game, and the fumbles were definitely his fault.

Dang guys, give the kid a break. I agree with the outside stuff, not sure why they kept checking into that, but Devon is shaking a little rust from surgeries. Not an excuse, just something to keep in mind and don't forget beast mode a few times that still make people smile.
