, Judge Brett Kavanaugh displayed a lack of judicial temperament that would be disqualifying for any court, and certainly for elevation to the highest court of this land.

The question at issue was of course painful for anyone. But Judge Kavanaugh exhibited a lack of commitment to judicious inquiry. Instead of being open to the necessary search for accuracy, Judge Kavanaugh was repeatedly aggressive with questioners. Even in his prepared remarks, Judge Kavanaugh described the hearing as partisan, referring to it as “a calculated and orchestrated political hit,” rather than acknowledging the need for the Senate, faced with new information, to try to understand what had transpired. Instead of trying to sort out with reason and care the allegations that were raised, Judge Kavanaugh responded in an intemperate, inflammatory and partial manner, as he interrupted and, at times, was discourteous to senators.

As you know, under two statutes governing bias and recusal, judges must step aside if they are at risk of being perceived as or of being unfair. As Congress has previously put it, a judge or justice “shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.” These statutes are part of a myriad of legal commitments to the impartiality of the judiciary, which is the cornerstone of the courts.

We have differing views about the other qualifications of Judge Kavanaugh. But we are united, as professors of law and scholars of judicial institutions, in believing that he did not display the impartiality and judicial temperament requisite to sit on the highest court of our land.

Honestly is this supposed to mean something? What would be more news worthy is if those 1700 were NOT opposed to him from the beginning

1700 liberal lawyers, who probably went straight into education and never spent a day working in the real world. What a shocker they would support this petition.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL the tears of the looney liberals is sweet. I mean I could go out and get 1700 conservative lawyers to say he is awesome, so what?

I find it funny that now that the sexual assault allegations have proven to be nonsense, the best liberals can do is say that he does not have the temperament to be a justice. The man has been a judge for decades and has written hundreds of opinions. If his temperament were an issue, it would have come up long before now. Or, at the very least, somebody he has worked with over the last few decades would be able to substantiate the claim.

As a lawyer friend who is a crazy Leftist said to me, "All these people who think judges are even keeled and without emotion have never heard an appelate judge rip a lawyer a new one."

.

Now? The day of or day after the hearing I commented that I had no clue what is or isn't true, but that his temperament and lack of being able to control his emotions was extremely worrisome for somebody who would be making highly important decisions with highly contentious debating.

Shit, my post was basically identical to what Dherd posted from these law professors.

Yes, your opinions are just like those of liberal lawyers who have opposed the guy from the day he nominated. Congrats.

He's been a federal judge for 12 years. The ABA has officially praised him for his temperament and fairness. He fought back whenfalsely being accused of sexual assault, such horror. I've read bigger hissy fits from you when somebody says something bad about the Mets or questions your opinions on just about anything.

.

Is that the same ABA that initially supported his nomination and had many Democratic attorneys writing on his behalf, only for them to flip after having the same opinion that I did upon seeing his temper-tantrum and lies during the hearing?

FIFY

seriously, why can fvcking libs not just admit what all this is, a delay tactic? everybody knows it, just own it. frankly, it only makes the mentally deranged bastards look worse than they already do.

THIS is what is going to create distrust and shame on the Democratic party and kill them in November.

You libtards just committed campaign suicide with this risky move, all to block a SCOTUS nominee.

Dtard, the only thing illegimate may be you! Can you start practicing "Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh"?

Mr. McGahn, according to people familiar with the conversation, told the president that even though the White House was facing a storm of condemnation for limiting the F.B.I. background check into sexual misconduct allegations against Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, a wide-ranging inquiry like some Democrats were demanding — and Mr. Trump was suggesting — would be potentially disastrous for Judge Kavanaugh’s chances of confirmation to the Supreme Court.

Well, that and .99¢ will get you a cup of coffee at Speedway. Suck it up. You lost. Conservative Court for the next 15-20 years. I don't care for Trump, but this will be worth all the stupidity he comes up with.

Yeah, we saw how that work when you tried it for an entire season, Coleman.

Remember your claims about betting thousands on each game only to then accidentally put your wagers of $10-$35 on here?

Comedy gold listening to spousal abuser Sherrod Brown lecture fellow Senators regarding the Kavanaugh vote.
Almost as funny as Senator Blumenthal talking about truth.
And please don"t forget Spartacus lecture BK when he wrote a blog years earlier bragging about assaulting a girl. Funny thing is BK didn't assault anyone when he did....typical of the liberals today
