With everything transpiring in the country right now, with curfews, public establishments closing again, and just overall everything ticking in the wrong direction; who thinks we might have played our last game?

I know that anything can happen, and no one truly knows. It's also apparent that Marshall has done one of the best jobs in CFB in handling the pandemic, but obviously in order to play you need your opponent to show up. I just thought I would just hear everyone's opinion on what they see happening.

*this isn't meant to be a negative post either, just genuinely curious in getting peoples views*

The possibility that we've seen the last game of the season is real.
And unfortunately except for Marshall, the entire CUSA is located in states filled with anti-maskers & deniers. FB could've been played with little interuption IF 80% of the population of the US followed simple guidelines. That is not political, those are facts.
At least the fat-assed, deadbeat Governor of WVa listened to actual professionals and that Marshall is lead by an engineering academic.

Sure looks political to me.

That's kind of like saying Marshall does a great job handling injuries because nobody ever has anything worse than "a thing" or "a deal."
Correct. We have had players miss games all season long. Granted not enough to cancel a game. I wish the basketball rules were as easy through this as football. As I said, we always have a player or 3 out every week in football. In basketball one guys test positive and the whole operation is shut down for 2 weeks.
Even worse lets say we are playing Akron on Saturday. Then on Sunday during testing an Akron player tests positive. IF that kid participated in the game the previous day vs Marshall, then Marshall as well as Akron are shut down 2 weeks.

I had predicted before the season started that football season would end by the end of October. Thankfully we have surpassed that plateau. I still can't imagine for our last game being the bowl game or championship game. It won't last that long

I was more so referring to the job they've done handling contact tracing. Players and staff have gotten it yes, but what impressed me is the fact that although they've gotten it, they've kept the contact tracing extremely minimal with their protocols. Leaving us in a better situation opposed to other teams having a few players get it, but having to cancel it because the contact tracing reached the whole team.

Or in other words....

I was more so referring to the job they've done handling checking to see if others are infected. CUSA protocols to even play the games require all schools to test multiple times before game time. To say we aren't testing and acting would say that Marshall is not following the conference guidelines, and then giving the finger to CDC and local health department requirements if a positive is found........yeah don't think so

Tests are done to ALL Marshall athletes and staff on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday

From what I understand, the FB staff has arranged meetings in such a matter that an infected player isn't exposed to very many team mates, particularly players who play the same position. That also would somewhat limit the numbers of players who would be quarantined.

One thing that seems to be good to date: There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of spread during actual practices & games. Nearly all the infected players have pick it up in some form of community spread.

It depends on where Marshall plays. Every team is susceptible to COVID and can lose enough players to cancel. However, if the teams themselves are able to play and the teams are located in Florida, GA, SC, TX, MS, and Alabama the games will go on if the teams are able to play. I do not think restrictions of any other nature will stop the games in those states other than a team itself not being able to play.
