Waco is just a strange city overall. I just had this conversation a couple of months ago with my mom.
They've had the David Koresh incident, the Baylor basketball murder, the biker gangs/police shootout at the breastaurant, the Baylor sexual assault incidents/coverup, and the Chip and JoAnna Gaines scandal from HGTV waiting to happen.
Then, you have the hit 90s R&B group Hi-Five. They are all from Waco. What has happened to them? One was found behind an apartment complex dead in the parking lot. He was trying to get high from sniffing the air conditioning fines and ODed.
One was paralyzed from a car accident. Another was shot five times. Another was sentenced to 15 years in jail for a murder charge. And the last one was convicted a few months ago for killing his wife. He skipped bail and was found in, that's right, Waco.
For a city of 130,000, they sure know how to cause some drama.
