Don’t look now......

If BYU we’re willing to go to coastal makes you think they’d have been willing to travel to Marshall last week.

I’d bet anything we weren’t interested.

I agree, MH is afraid to play anyone with a pulse
Really? You talking about the same AD that scheduled a home and home with Boise State? Got us a game at Notre Dame. Got a ranked Appy State here on 3 weeks notice? Do I need to go on?

There is no proof to point to the idea that MH turned down BYU. Where are your facts to support your accusation?

Give me a break.

Exactly, and I'll bet ESPN put BYU into this game if Liberty can't make it. It's hard for me to believe that BYU would go to CCU without encouragement; if they won't come to Huntington.

I was questioning it as well. I’m not questioning future schedules, but the fact that once we had our ranking established that we added no competitive non conference games despite no restrictions and ample opportunity. Sure does give the vibe that we’re sitting on our lead.

I’ve seen other ADs come out and say “any time anywhere “ or something to that affect. Certainly not hearing any statements from Mike in that regard.

Did you see Docs interview s few weeks ago where he was asked about potentially playing BYU? Very non-commital about even being interested.

I certainly don’t maintain that there’s any verifiable proof that we’ve passed on anything, just secondhand rumors.

But hard not to wonder our mindset when Doc is asked “Hey would you be interested in a hypothetical game with BYU? “ and his response is along the lines of “well our priority is to win the conference. Would that game be worth the risk? I don’t know.”

Since Liberty can’t play due to COVID, I think the right thing for ESPN to do would be to invite Mrs Falwell to be the guest picker while her husband sits just off camera. Also, a last minute game a few time zones away...someone may need to sneak some caffeine to the BYU players

I can respect your point of view on this. I was just addressing the posters comment that stated "MH does not want to play anyone with a pulse."

BYU wouldn't go to Washington.

This is simply both programs getting on their knees for the ESPN/Gameday exposure and can't say I blame them.

BYU didn’t go independent knowing they’d have to get on their knees for TV money from anybody.

So far this year they’ve played on
ESPN- 5 times
ESPN 2- once with one more coming up
Fox sports 1- once
CBS -game with army canceled.

Every game they’ve had except for FCS North Alabama has been on mainstream national television.

Can I prove they would have come to Huntington? No. But let’s not act like they have to fall all over themselves for TV money.

They’re a name brand undefeated team who is under ranked in the CFP rankings because of their SOS. They need quality games against top 25 teams to get into the top 12 and cement their chances at a lucrative At-large NY6 bid.

And there’s no way that BYU improving their schedule couldn’t be higher on the priority list than getting yet another game on the ESPN family, (which they have no problem doing.) The actual game, by the way, is going to be on ESPNU. So it will be the most poorly distributed FBs game they’ve played all year.

Again, would BYU have come here? I have no way to know that. But there’s just no way anyone can convince me they’re playing CCU because they’re taking whatever scraps ESPN will throw at them. They don’t need scraps, they’re almost at the head of the table.

What they DO need, is quality top 25 games. Something we could have potentially offered.

Game makes sense to separate themselves in the college football playoff rankings.. byu win gives them a “quality win” vs another ranked playoff team

Every time an announcer calls Coastal "the Chants" I hear "the sharts."

Juvenile of me to note, but....that's on-brand I suppose.
