Donnie Jones + weak schedule = wins. Doc Holiday + weak schedule = wins. See a pattern? Donnie was exposed in his last year, Doc is exposed in his 6th year.
Unless someone or group comes in with the $$$ to buy out Holliday he will be back.
Part of the problem with Marshall athletics is extending contracts long before they should be as its not like the world is going to come calling for one of our coaches.
The last coach Marshall had that was actually chased to change schools was Coach P - and that was Houston and he was gone until someone let the cat out of the bag.
Think about it - be it hoops or football - no one has come calling - pretty obvious how that book reads.
Jim Donnan - Coach P
Billy D and Dana Altman
Those 4 and look how many years its been since those 4 names were associated with Marshall.
Jones - chased UCF himself
Hamrick has not made one hire that has been good enough for any other school to make a move on.
Doc will get a complete pass for this year based off the wins from 2013-2015. Unless he decides he doesn't want to,be here, but he and Legg will be here in 2017. It just is what it is.
Doc could probably save his reputation IF he let Bill Legg go. BUT Legg is his buddie hence nothing will change. Legg is far to conservative in play calling for the 21st century.
Golf - minor sport - not exactly the same as football ,basketball and baseball. The sports I believe most on here are interested in and what most schools want to base their athletic reputations on.
We play in a very mediocre conference but yet do not dominate in any of the three noted sports and when I say dominate I mean more than the occasional division title , domination is winning on a consistent basis not every so often , being in the mix here and there is not domination.
Fact is , Hamrick hires overall have failed to on average consistently produce.
2010 - 2012 - "Doc Holliday is an idiot, a bad hire, a WVU guy, fire him now!"
2013 - 2015 - "Woo hoo Marshall footsbawwww!!! We got that swag, ya'll!"
2016 - At least 2017 - "If only we had the money to buy out Doc's contract, we'd send his loser ass packing."
