The Secret Service has run out of the money for paying hundreds of its agents, according to USA Today.
The Secret Service has reportedly spent about $60,000 on just golf cart rentals at both Bedminster and Mar-a-Lago since 2017 began.

USA Today reported Monday that agency is struggling to finance its efforts due to the size of Trump’s family and the work necessary for protecting his multiple East Coast residences.

Secret Service Director Randolph “Tex” Alles told USA Today that more than 1,000 agents have already hit federally mandated caps for overtime and salary allowances for the entire year.

Alles said the Secret Service is dealing with an unprecedented amount of White House protectees under Trump.

The Secret Service safeguards 42 people under Trump, a total including 18 members of the president’s family.

About 130 agents would not be fully compensated for hundreds of hours already worker, however, according to the Secret Service.

“I don’t see this changing in the near term,” said Alles, whom Trump appointed to his role in April. “Normally, we are not this tapped out.”

The situation is further complicated by Trump’s repeated visits to properties up and down the East Coast.

Trump has taken seven trips to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, for example, since his inauguration in January.

The president has also journeyed to Trump Tower in New York City once and his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, five times during the same period.

Trump’s trips to Mar-a-Lago alone cost at least $3 million each, a total based on a General Accounting Office (GAO) estimate for similar travels made by Obama.
