Hearing rumors that MR hath sold the Pullman to Hilton and that a Doubletree will soon replace the lice laden Pullman? Is it too good to be true? We now will have 2 decent downtown venues to choose from with a possible 3rd coming with the Riverfront venue?

The future is so bright we gotta wear shades!

Yes it's true... It was sold two weeks ago... Double tree by Hilton will be taking over... I mean has already taken over but the name change hasn't officially happened ...

Here's hoping they plan on full renovations. Doubletrees are pretty solid hotels and I can't remember having stayed in one I was frustrated with or disliked. Good news for downtown, if true.

It would be nice if they do it right. Every Doubletree I've stayed in has always been nice.

That old place has "potential" it just needed a decent change architect and an interior designer.

One thing for certain it will greatly help downtown Huntington and Marshall.

Why do you say that? Cities rebound all the time. The downtown area is as vibrant as its been since the mid 60'S. MU is moving forward. Yeah, we have a drug and jobs issue but not many cities are immune to some type of problem.

I would assume that a complete remodel would be necessary to get close to Doubletree's standards. Surprised they did not go with the slightly lower down the food chain Hilton Garden Inn or Hampton Inn brands.

Thank god. When they dropped the Radisson affiliation the place turned into an embarrassing slum.

I was there for a work-related event about 4-5 years ago, and when I requested Wi-fi access, they brought me a router to plug into the wall.

Most likely not since they have those already in Huntington at I-64/16th St.

Another tidbit is the hotel is not owned by Hilton instead it is owned by Pullman Hospitality. Pullman Hopsitality purchased the franchise from Hilton to make the the property a Double Tree.

Hopefully the owners will do a huge upgrade on overall look and complete room remodel.

Duke always finds the negative in anything positive to do with Huntington/Marshall

I'm lol at this greenhouse character and his hyperbole.

Plus the downtown location and more importantly the building is already laid out as a full service hotel we restaraunt/bar
Correct. If any visiting football team plans to stay there it MUST be a full service hotel.

If Intuit comes, Huntington DOES get a riverfront hotel and conference center, and The Doubletree DOES remodel itself into a 3 to 4 star hotel with a full service bar and restaurant would my statement STILL be hyperbole?

Just axing?!?!?

It's a very nice little town, has a ton of charm especially if you sit in 8 lanes of traffic everyday.

All I ask is give the Holiday Inn some competition! They are truly screwing the out of town Marshall fan, I know because I AM one. 2 more hotels in the area will help that weekend Herd game rate nicely IMO.

first I've heard of intuit coming to Huntington. Any details as to what they are considering bringing in, call center, regional headquarters?

Some Mayoral Hyperbole for you then???? :)

If Williams can pull off half of this it would revitalize Huntington. Which honestly considering the union control of WV as a state and the negative attitude of people like our girl Cuz from Mohole towards progressive thinking that could help Marshall I too SERIOUSLY doubt he can.

Still If you add the Doubletree then the Riverpark Hotel complex , and could find a suitable place for a mixed use Marshall baseball and single A team ....we have a solid foundation for research at Marshall to build upon, things could rapidly and greatly positively turn around.

I love his spunk if nothing else, and wish him well trying to drag Huntington back into a competitive global economy with unions fighting him every step and an eerbilly based state government that wants Marshall kept down below their precious technical institute of furniture arson.

Intuit is looking...just looking. Thinking. Considering.

Again my above thread mentions what trying to lure them here they will face.

NJSSOFA and the eerbilly state govt of legislators probably will block and kill it any way they can.

Man how I wish Dr. Kopp were still alive. He fought those idiots like the Lone Ranger without To

Same with me, I just came back to this thread to ask for additional details.

I've never seen a state so inclined to cannabilize itself on the notion if anyone or anything challenges one institution in any perceived way, we need to kill it. From Division 1 football to basketball to anything wvu supporters will kill anything that might threaten them. It's sad. It's why wv is last in so many areas. Literally they have killed the state along with the unions. The only state with a negative population growth outside of Alaska yet the eerbilly nation won't change.

It's not that unusual that Hilton won't own the hotel, they are in the franchise business. Cloverleaf Hospitality out of Dublin, OH is doing the project. It's owned by a guy named Jay Batra, they have around 10 properties and are currently doing another Doibletree conversion in TN.

I know that Brad has a profound respect and love for the region. He's never forgotten his roots. However, he ultimately answers to his shareholders and whatever long term strategic plan Intuit has set for itself. A call center would be about the only thing I can see locating in the Huntington area (and that's a long shot). Any other type of larger operation would require much greater infrastructure upgrading to justify coming into WV.
