I don't understand why so many people here are upset with this season.
We did better than last year.
We are 4-4 in the conference, which seems about right to me.
Face it. We are a small school located in a dying town in a poor state. State funding for the school is decreasing every year. How exactly do we expect to attract quality athletes to play here? Doc takes kids with obvious problems because that's his only hope - find a quality athlete that no one else will take and pray he stays out of jail long enough to contribute.
I don't think should be blaming the OC for the team's lack of talent. The recruiting hurdles are just too high.
And all of you dreaming of moving up to the AAC or to a P5 conference need to get a grip. WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY. WE DON'T HAVE THE FAN BASE. And without those, we are never going to attract good coaches and players.
The way I see it, we have two choices - temper our expectations, expect to be a mid-level team in C-USA, and be happy, or drop down a division. Our "glory days" were in Division II, and perhaps that's where we belong. Remember, even then we couldn't beat WVU or the better Division 1 schools, and we still can't. We should accept that we never will.
