Exactly where we belong? (This is a terrible troll thread)

I don't understand why so many people here are upset with this season.

We did better than last year.

We are 4-4 in the conference, which seems about right to me.

Face it. We are a small school located in a dying town in a poor state. State funding for the school is decreasing every year. How exactly do we expect to attract quality athletes to play here? Doc takes kids with obvious problems because that's his only hope - find a quality athlete that no one else will take and pray he stays out of jail long enough to contribute.

I don't think should be blaming the OC for the team's lack of talent. The recruiting hurdles are just too high.

And all of you dreaming of moving up to the AAC or to a P5 conference need to get a grip. WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY. WE DON'T HAVE THE FAN BASE. And without those, we are never going to attract good coaches and players.

The way I see it, we have two choices - temper our expectations, expect to be a mid-level team in C-USA, and be happy, or drop down a division. Our "glory days" were in Division II, and perhaps that's where we belong. Remember, even then we couldn't beat WVU or the better Division 1 schools, and we still can't. We should accept that we never will.

I get your point, HerdFan73 - to say that Marshall actually had "glory years" is certainly a stretch. All I was pointing out that, to the extent they ever existed, they weren't when Marshall was pretending to be a Division I school.

The pattern is familiar - once schools convince themselves that they are something that they're not, other pretenders crawl out of the woodwork. The P5 schools got tired of every Tom DIck and Harry "moving up" to Division I - so they created a new Division for all intents and purposes.

It's like Marshall deciding to call itself a University - and now Fairmont and Shepard and WV State are all Universities, too. The end result is the words Division I and University have lost all meaning.

Here, I highlighted the garbage that is typically spewed by the spamites toward MU. First post, and chose the handle "Little Green Team" Keep representing well. Nice trash talking yesterday. Okie showed you what a bunch of classless thugs your are after you ran your mouth, they just shoved the ball down your throat and up your a$$ hanging 59 on that wonderful defense with big ass mouths.

We are not even a good to high level mid major team. Good Lord, did you see what we did in the 90's? We can't do better now. Give me a damn break and stop making excuses.

I'm glad the OP took a long hard look in the mirror and faced reality. wvu is mediocre (5-4 B12) and always will be while playing in a P5 conference trying to convince themselves they are in the same level as Ohio State and Alabama and Oklahoma. Their glory days (if there ever were any) were being Beast of the East and then getting killed in a major bowl game against legit teams like ND or Florida, or beating up on the Big East and pretending that was a power conference. Maybe you should drop back down to the AAC. Or stay put and cash the P5 checks, tainted by knowing you will never win a national championship (126 years and running) now that it's decided on the field. Great post: temper your expectations or move down. (closing sound effect: rifle being fired by a drunk hillbilly dressed like Daniel Boone)

little green team - joined 2 days ago! I have herd of fans jumping on the bandwagon, but he really put too much effort into his “post”. He will be “in the bed” for a couple of weeks recovering. Too funny! Glad us ole catfish didn’t chomp @ this particular bait.....

Come on, guys ... maybe this guy is a troll; maybe not. You have to admit, there was some truth in his first post. And I fail to see where he mentioned WVU in either of his posts, but some of you were quick to assume that he’s a troll, so he must be a WVU fan.

WVU envy, much?

No, but this guy is to trolling what Bill Legg is to an offense.

So you’re saying he ran it twice up the middle, then threw it ten feet over a receiver’s head? XD

He reminds me of one of those two turds that respond to every Landon article.

This seems legit, coming from a guy who registered with an e-mail address that started with "marshallsucks".
