Frankly, this is what unestablished comedians call "A material." They mistakenly judge the reaction to their first uses of the material as being strong from the audience, and they keep using those same jokes repeatedly. It's also the use of "callbacks" in which comedians refer back to a joke they made earlier in the routine. That's an effective strategy, but if the initial use was a bomb, then the callback will almost always also be a bomb.
When you moved from Michigan to Pennsylvania, did you bring your writers with you or are you trying to do this on your own now?
