Been listening to some Jordan Peterson Old Testament lectures while I fall asleep at night. I still struggle with genocide etc as we’ve mentioned, but a lot of “the human struggle/experience” stuff in the OT I enjoy.

One of the things that always impresses me with the Old Testament is the way none of the heroes are white washed. Everybody is presented as they are warts and all.
That's largely because Evangelical churches don't know what to do with the Old Testament so they treat David and Abraham and others as superheroes or leaders in a moral tale rather than as sinner's resting in the mercy and grace of Christ and in the power and authority of the covenant God.
