Been listening to some Jordan Peterson Old Testament lectures while I fall asleep at night. I still struggle with genocide etc as we’ve mentioned, but a lot of “the human struggle/experience” stuff in the OT I enjoy.

That's largely because Evangelical churches don't know what to do with the Old Testament so they treat David and Abraham and others as superheroes or leaders in a moral tale rather than as sinner's resting in the mercy and grace of Christ and in the power and authority of the covenant God.
